Source: Pac-12 has Missouri on its radar.

For one thing, the Longhorn Network would have to be folded into the Pac-12 regional model — it wouldn’t exist as a separate entity.

What’s more, there is no chance that any school will have more than 1/16th of the revenue that comes from the conference’s first, second or third-tier rights. NO CHANCE.

We’re more likely to see USC give up football and join the Big West.

Remember, the Pac-12 CEOs would like to have Texas, but they are not desperate to have Texas.

They have all the leverage.

quote:

*** Yes, yes, 100 times yes: The Pac-12 would add the Oklahoma schools and become a 14-team conference even if Texas follows a different path.

And if the number is 14, there’s a very good chance the conference would use the Zipper model for division alignment (i.e., split the natural rivals).

The league will not — I repeat: will not — pair USC and Oklahoma in the same division.

This guy has been on top of the Pac-12 expansion news since the very beginning. Probably the most reliable source there is on the subject. My guess is that they accept OU and OSU, then give Texas a deadline so they can move on to trying to get Missouri and Kansas.

New Mexico and Nevada. Fills in gaps, decent TV markets, much better academics than TT.

Pacific Div: Old Pac-8
Southwest Div: ASU, AZ, NV, UT, CO, NM, OU & OSU.

LOL, at the PAC if they get MO.

Only because it would be hysterical for the PAC to have a school that's two hours away from the MS river.

The Texas stuff makes sense. The Missouri stuff does not. If we added MO, they would jump to the SEC or Big 10 at the first chance they got. Screw them

Wow, this is the first time I've heard any MO-PAC12 connection. Seems wrong for both sides in so many ways.

Obviously it isn't wrong if the Pac-12 is indeed interested in Missouri. I doubt the Pac-12 would expand just for expansion sake.

It's all about EXPANDING to different territories. Can you imagine the Pac 12 map with Missouri, Oklahoma, a Texas School. Over HALF the country. Lots of viewers=more MONEY. Think the Pac 12 contract is big now, wait til they add Oklahoma, State of Missouri with metro Kansas City(Includes Kansas), St. Louis(includes Illinois) and a Texas Market. Talk about Viewers and Money.

Pac 16 country would be a GOOD fit.

sorry, but I generally tune out the Pac-12 when it is on TV. I don't think it is exciting and I am guessing many others in the Eastern and Central time zones feel the same way.

I don't want Texas in the Pac 12 at all. I don't care what they bring besides a headache and a pain in the arse. Texas is a different country...they don't fit the culture of the West Coast...and they aren't midwest...they aren't Eastern and they don't even fit in with their cousins in the deep South. Let them be independent or they can get the old SWC gang back together again and call it the Longhorn Conference.

To hell with everything Texas.

at Texas.

They're going to get forced into independence and irrelevance and they'll have no one to blame but themselves.

they'll get their measely $15-$20mil a year, have to deal with all the headaches of independence, and still be getting paid less TV money than the Big10 and SEC teams.

No shite.

I just find it comical that the PAC-? would have a school in fricking MO.

I would find it equally funny if the SEC had a school in AZ.

Texas is getting $15 million/year for 3 football games. You don't think it will increase if they go indy? The #s I have seen are around $40 - 45 million when all of the basketball and baseball thrown in.

Personally, if Texas can't go ACC or Big 10, screw the West Coast, I'd love an independent Texas with its other sports anywhere else. I am in the minority but football is pretty much all that matters to me. I only care about post-season college basketball and baseball.

Meh, you are a little off IMO. Austin, TX is completely different from the rest of Texas. Lots of hipsters, goth kids, liberals, and homosexuals. I think they would fit right in with the West Coast. Lots of people from California move to Austin because of the electronics business, and innovative culture.

Hearing the Pac-12 wouldn't have the nine member votes to let Texas in right now. Not sure who else besides Colorado is against it.

Meh, you are WAY off IMO.

I lived in Austin for 7 years and will be moving back in the next couple of months. Besides a relatively small contingent of those people, who can typically only be found downtown, the suburban counties that surround Travis are BLOOD RED and are much more associated with the South.

Its not a small contingent dude. Austin is an outlier.
