Are they worth getting? Seriously in the market for a safety pistol now to keep in my vehicle bur don't know if I'd need the concealed permit for outside of my vehicle.

Get it, you won't regret
If you get out of your car and conceal your gun, you need it

I'm taking the class Saturday. I don't think ill carry that much, mostly in the woods and in a boat, but when I do ill be legal. I know I want ever regret having it. Plus once I get it I will always have it. All u have to do is renew once every 4 years.

While technically true, at least some law officers get nervous and are suspicious and will have you thoroughly checked out if you are packing but not a CHL holder (I have lots of relatives in law enforcement back in LA).
Even if you never plan to actually carry on your person, a CHL shows officers you've been thoroughly vetted. And along with being respectful, I know my CHL helped get me out of several tickets. Police will typically see CHL holders as someone that aren't threats, don't have to worry about and generally one of the good guys.

Even if you only plan to carry in your car, a good CCW class will cover the legal issues you need to know for home, car or concealed in public.

Once you leave Louisiana, and do not have a permit, all the rules change!
