The first down stick is slightly bent in that picture, and the camera angle is slightly off.

A statement came out saying that the very nose of the football was touching the stick, I'll trust their judgement.

A gap is a gap at any angle, as far as being bent, the chain is connected on the bottom of the stick. How can you bend it beyond the length of the chain?

They're also pushing the nose of the ball down toward the stick. State got hosed on that call no matter how you slice it.

Seems like the SEC office has to issue "statements" like this a couple of times every year...and they almost always are defending calls made by refs in games involving either Bama or Auburn at home.

It's long been said that whenever you go on the road to Tuscaloosa or Auburn, you have to beat the officials as well as the football teams.

The spot should have been challenged anyway.That dude got absolutely drilled. He didn't gain a nose hair. You didn't need instant replay to analyze that.

The extra yard and half on the spot helped also. The replay clearly showed he was down well before the marker. That play should have been MSU ball.
