I'm glad we have two competant qb's for a change. Lee was obviously better statistically, is a senior, will start, but it's nice to have confidence in someone who can come in and help out if Lee goes down or is struggling.

all of his passes were along the line of scrimmage to get the WRs in space. What exactly did he show you?

Showed me that we now have the ability to run the bubble screen again ... that play disappeared from the playbook with JJ and JL at QB. I'd much rather see that pass than the swing pass lobbed out to the RB.

Actually Lee does like to party...

But anyway, once again, the back up qb is considered better!

he took a hit and didnt throw off his back foot on 3rd down pass to RR I'll take that all day over Lee

That's the big difference, arm strength, putting the ball where it needs to be and poise in pocket.

They were both good. We are lucky to have them.
We can win regardless of who starts. The "D" will keep us in every game we play. 150 - 225 yards passing will get us a "W" in every game on our schedule. Our running game and TOS should be solid if we can keep the OL healthy.

I have confidence in Lee this year, but when you play scared, you are more prone to injury. I don't see him making it the year. Either he will go down with an injury or his happy feet may lead to more rushed throws and consequent picks. I hope I am wrong on this.

That being said, Mettenswag sure looked good. Kid has confidence, which is the number one trait for a successful quarterback. Nothing timid about this guy:

quote:

“I definitely think me and Jarrett are two similar quarterbacks,” Mettenberger said. “I know I’m the backup, but at any time I can go in and run the offense. And I always prepare myself to start.”

Mett and Lee are like Lightning McQueen and Tow Mater.

Tow Mater has been around longer and knows all the routes, but Lightning McQueen sure looks good next to him.

Just watched highlights

It would take JJ 2 years to throw a TD pass like Mett did. I'm not anointing the kid but as far as pure talent at the QB position goes, it's no comparison.

More impressive than the actual throw was the way he moved in the pocket just before making the TD pass. Just slid to his left when the heat came from his right. His eyes never left down field, and he found Boone because of it. Pocket presence.

On a side note, I know he didn't get much yardage on the option keeper, but he exhibited a physicality on the run. Then he bounced up quickly and got the team back in the huddle and kept a good rhythm on the drive. He's just not afraid of contact in the game of football.

Some have "IT" at the QB position, and some fight the position to try and find "IT". Mett just has "IT". His day is coming sooner or later, and I can't wait to see him lead these Tigers.

In the meantime, I'm behind Lee 100%.

I can't believe we have fans that can't even take the suggestion that Mett should get a little P.T. against SEC competition to see if maybe he is a better option. We have had 4 years to evaluate Lee and while everyone can appreciate his dedication sticking it out even though he obviously wasn't going to be the starter, we still have to go with our best available QB. We need to make sure the best available QB isn't sitting on the bench in Mett.

Both QB's looked great last night.

As for Mett, he really looked the part, which says a lot for a guy new to the system.

I know the competition wasn't the best, but with Mett waiting in the wings, it looks like there are some great days to come for the Tigers!!!

Why is this so hard to believe ... unless of course you've never visited the Rant.

not taking anything away from Lee, but Mett looked good last night. I know its mop up duty an all but his fundamentals are better than Lee at this time. Just calling it as i see it

Look at the two touchdown passes. Lee's kind of hung in the air and peterson had to wait on it and was falling while he caught it.
Mett's pass to Boone was had air under it, but was thrown hard.

I'm sticking with my prediction after the fight that Mett will be starting by game 5...
