Does anyone know if the SEC will get rid of LSU's permanent game against Florida now that the conference is expanding?

No. This matchup brings in too much $$

no, they'll get rid of a more boring game (kentucky or vandy) before that.

As much as i invite TAMU to the annual matchup status, the SEC had best not mess up LSU-FLA ...and I do not think they will.

It's not definite yet, I don't think. but if it did happen I would think this would happen unfortunately. I love the LSU-UF rivalry.

How would anyone know that at this point? We don't even know if we'll be 13,14 or 16 next year

It wouldn't surprise me if they do away with permanent opponents.
ETA: I mean permanent opponets in the other division obviously.

Alleva was on Moscona today and implied that it was gone.

We have enough regular matchups in the west that are tough. I won't mind one less.

I will miss the LSU/UF rivalry, but I disagree with you. LSU vs. A&M would bring in just as much if not more. Broader fan base, more add revenue. A&M fans travel well.

Good.
I'd rather NOT have to play a perennial powerhouse from the East every year (unlike the rest of the West) and risk a trip to Atlanta over a non-divisional loss.
frick that. SECCG >>>>> LSU vs. UF

not just ticket sales. I'm talking the bigger money outside of LSU....the tv networks make a ton on this matchup. They have a lot of influence that we dont know about.

I could give two shits about playing florida.

ESPN's concerns don't enter into the equation when the SEC decides on scheduling policies.
I would think that the permanent cross-divisional games would stay. That keeps traditioinal rivalries alive like Bama/Tenn.

I agree.
CBS has some weight to throw around too

Verge Ausberry said LSU would push to do away with the permanent opponent scheduling if the conference expands.

Exactly.
OSU & Michigan are in different divisions, and will still play every year.
We have 3 non-divisional conference games every year. The SEC could either reduce that to 2 (due to the need to play another divisional team) or increase the total # of conference games to 9.
Either way, I see no reason one of the non-divisional games couldn't be UF every year from the SEC's perspective. It's not like we're trying to schedule a permanent series with Vandy.
All that being said, I hope they do away with it. Makes it unfairly difficult for us to get to Atlanta relative to the rest of the West.
