Give your team grades for the performance last weekend

QB: D+ (Time to admit that the QB play was still very underwhelming and there's been too many excuses beging used to give undeserved praise. Neither will be very good. We can't have QB play like that against our opponent's defenses this year. Time to let the "your guy/my guy" thing go IF JJ does play again, and hope that they all start puting up respectable numbers and keep winning)
RB: A (Even though we lost a fumble, it was a dominant outing that won us the game)
WR: D+ (Their performance depends on the QB just as much as the QB's performance depends on his WR's...they both stunk)
OL: A+ (Provided great pass protection and paved the way for a dominating performance in the run game)
DL: A+ (We may be even deeper at DL than we thought. They caused major problems as the game went on and held a Heisman candidate under 60 yds rushing)
LB: B- (About what we expected. Ryan Baker then everybody esle. The speed did help though.)
DB: A+ (Did not give up the big play and gave excellent run support. It's like they pulled a flash mob all over the field. Best secondary as a whole in a long time. A lot of the yards they gave up came in prevent defense after the game was already in hand.)
ST: A- (Take away the missed field and the performance of our special teams was just as dominant as any other phase of the team. Wing is going to be a good one. Our return team is sick and our coverage teams are the ones who really changed this game...T-raw's TD especailly)
Coaches: A+ I think they deserve way more credit for having this team ready to play even in the midst of a the distractions and negativity.

QB - B+
1. You managed the game and beat the #3 team in the country.
2. You had way to many dropped balls by the receivers to hurt your stats.
3. You were given notice to start the game with about a week to prepare.
4. You were not asked to throw often, but when you did, you were usually on target even when there was blanket coverage on the WR's.

That's just another excuse. You can't put all that blame on the receivers. Most of the incompletions would have been exceptional catches by the WR's.

If you rewatch the game, there was 1 drive in the first half where we needed to answer the Oregon score. Lee efficiently led the team down the field we took the lead to end the first half. Momentum had swung and this drive was huge. And in the 2nd half, he was not given too many opportunities to throw it, but the key was he did not make big mistakes. And the throw to Peterson was a thing of beauty. Leadership B, passing accuracy C+, managing the game A.

That deserves a C at least. Lee did everything he was asked to

He's a 5th year senior. If another QB started the game and went down with injury, then you would have a valid point there.

If I throw a ball to you and it hits your chest and your hands, you call that an exceptional catch if you hold on to it?
How about if I aim just a tad bit higher to face level yet it stil hits your hands. That's an exceptional catch?

managing the game A.
Hey I'll give you that.

Yeah I agree on managing game. Other than the hiccup at center exchange. Lee did make great decisions.
The accuracy thing is where I saw him struggle. He had some horrible drops by Boone, Clement and Beckman. But he also equalled of not even threw more passes behind WRs or off the mark.
I think Lee has made great strides of getting better. He should thank our Oline for keeping him clean. He had time to pick the defense apart. I don't think he would have that much time against a Bama or another SEC team.
Overall I give him a C+. I have to take into consideration of drops and where we would have been if we wouldn't have had the holding call on 60. (PS he did over throw OBJ on that long ball as well. Should have been 6 if no holding.)

All-in-all, I hope by the end of the season we are talking about having 2 or 3 QB's that have turned the corner and have become some of the biggest turn around stories.
Although I won't praise an underwhelming performance now, I will however continue to drink plenty beer and talk plenty sh*t to another other team's fans about every Tiger. Here's to an even better performance that the last in all phases.

First, the RB did not lose a fumble, in contrast to OP. That fumble is on the center, who clearly snapped the ball without JL calling for it.
Second, I think JL played pretty well, but certainly not perfectly. I think all of his throws were balls that could have been caught. A couple were broken up by good plays by the Oregon defense, and a couple were drops by the receivers. In contrast, a great many of the passes that Thomas threw were nowhere close to his receivers. Obviously, the LSU defensive line deserves credit for getting pressure, and the OL deserves credit for giving JL time to throw, but JL looked much more accurate than Thomas, who was supposed to be the better passer.
