Because, for the last damn time, their team is not going to be as good as last year's team, and ours will be better. There's no other fact based conclusion anyone can look to. Their defense has been gutted. Both starting WRs gone, offensive line returns 2 people.
In their defensive front 7, they return 2 starters. Of those 5 new players, one is already suspended, the critical ILB. Those noobs will be going against our offensive line, which was returning all five of last year's starters (though 1 was due to injury), but now we have DJabobowacki hurt. Advantage - Heavily Lsu
For their O vs our D, I think we will see a lot of 4-2-5. I give the advantage to Oregon here, but very slight. After seeing what Auburn did to them defensively, we are going to create havoc. Where they had Bitch arse Nick Fairly, we have a lights out edge rush. And with Tyrann on the field, I just see us doing better than Auburn. The key to success will be getting Ware/Ford 60 carries, lol.

So our defense isn't as good as an Auburn defense which held them to 75 yards rushing? And before you mention Fairly, Oregon's OL has lost 3 starters and are starting a RSFrosh who has never played a down.

Because I think Oregon is going to SUCK this year.
I'm talking 5-4 in the pack 12 suck.

As far as the quote us not being able to contain mobile qbs. Tyrod Taylor ran all night (backwards). Chief's blitzes will shut down the "scrammble.'' We are healthiest for the first game of the year on defense - advantage LSU. Offense has had more than a week to prepare - advantage LSU. Despite the suspensions, young players know this is an opportunity to gain playing time for the rest of the year - advantage LSU. Miles vs non-SEC - advantage LSU. Miles vs Top 10 non-SEC - advantage LSU.

Their center takes his first snap Saturday
Night.
Their o line will be shell shocked.
They will lose.(Drago voice)

They only return 11 starters from last years team
Yeah...one of them is a Heisman trophy finalist and one is their starting QB

not even counting their best CB who is suspended
Yeah. Like our passing game is some sort of unstoppable force. We couldn't even pass against AU last year
quote:
so they will have less than half the guys that started for them against Auburn for this game.
But they're a top 5 program. They're going to have depth. You can bet on that.

(1) Les generally wins when he has time to prepare;
(2) Les is undefeated in OOC regular season games;
(3) LSU belongs to the SEC.
I think they might be in for a surprise. I do not believe that it is going to be easy for either team.

I believe The Chief is looking at the green (pun intended) Oregon OL- and licking his chops.....

AU lit us up last year with the spread in a bad way
I know they don't have a guy like Newton but their offense is more complex and fast paced. If our D line starts getting gassed and we can't sub people in they could run all over us.
It's going to take a lot of discipline and strategy to slow down their offense

We're not talking about someone dropping back and then scrambling. We're talking about designed run plays.

That applies to Oregon as well

CUE fake injury bitching by the quackers.

Their offensive back field is sick and could possibly be improved
If their O line came together during the off season there might not be much of a drop off. Sometimes teams get better despite losing a lot of starters.

It's not a fact. It's 100% speculation.

Sure but it's not like our offense was awesome last year and we did lose Tolliver and Ridley who were contributors.

Yeah. Fairley dominated almost every game he played in though.

I have to admit, I don't read this board as much as I used to. But just at a glance it seems like a lot of people think we're going to walk over them.
We struggled with West Virginia at home last year. Oregon has a lot more talent on offense than WV did.
If our offense doesn't play well we're in trouble. I'm confident we'll win but a lot of people are acting like this is going to be easy. If Oregon has some success on offense and can sustain drives they could very well wear out our D-line in the second half.
Because people are idiots and are looking through the PnG glasses. Oregon is a scary team to face. What HAS to happen is LSU just runs the ball down their throat and keeps the Duck offense off of the field as much as possible. Of course the defense will need to make stops, but if the running game for LSU takes off and dominates, the odds of winning go up exponentially.

Because thinking about winning big is more fun than thinking about struggling or losing, and there's no legit reason to think we can't win big. Simole as that.
Unless you are involved with the team's preparation or betting on the game, there is absolutely no rational reason for a fan to be anything other than optimistic.

13,100 posts per year!

Ridley, certainly, but Toliver??? nah. I think we can move on from a WR who doesn't show up every week.

if they run on us it may be more due to linebacking than the DL.
also honest question, do people call them "OU" on here as an insult or is it ignorance?

Just as we WILL wear out the Ducks DLINE in the second half. I think we have the edge in skill players and in the running game.
