Are we still stupid enough as a country that we need our television shows to let us know when we should laugh? The laugh track is obnoxious.

Seriously? Who green-lights this shite?

Damn, thought that show looked reasonably funny and I thought the laugh track had already R.I.P.'d.

It won't end. It's a subliminal element in shows to make you think they are funny.

As long as they continue to produce brain dead CBS sitcoms, the laugh track will never die.

BBT is hilarious. And it has a laugh track.

I can't stand when shows just shove it in after every line and the actors pause after each sentence to allow a laugh track, regardless of whether or not they just said anything funny.

that's one reason I find The Office so funny, the awkward silences

laugh tracks need to be a thing of the past

I honestly like when it's a live studio audience. I like plenty of shows both with and without. The ones that bother me are MASH-esque - the obviously totally canned laughter.

We aren't the only country that uses a laugh track.

But yeah, I hate laugh tracks. It worked in Seinfeld, but that's about it. I hardly even notice it when i'm watching Seinfeld.

Happy Days died when they switched from laugh tracks to live filming. Actors began to shout punchlines, the audience forced pauses in the action whenever Fonzie walked in...

Given a choice of the two, I'll take a laugh track over a studio audience.

the laugh track used correctly and in moderation isn't necessarily a bad thing.

The laugh track does work on shows like Tosh.0 and The Soup though.

I honestly think this is why The Big Bang Theory isn't widely accepted as an awesome television show.

I participated in a pilot test-screening of that show How to be a Gentlemen on CBS. It was god-awful yet there was non-stop laughing due to the laugh track.
