So you really think that discipline is the reason that LSU loses 2 games a year and it has nothing to do with the competition they have to play every year?

Awesome

...only part i disagree with. i would consider averaging 10+ wins a season winning "on a regular basis" ...

2008: 8-5

2009: 9-4

2010: 11-2

Why, of course; we show all the signs of a program headed in the wrong direction.

After all- it isn't the amount of wins, it's how you win.

A pretty 9-4 is MUCH better than a so-so 11-2.

(ahem) Uh, Scout- Look this way for a second.

That's the most overblown bullshite excuse that has ever been used on this board.

If I were in the desert dying of thirst, I wouldnt drink the water in the dirty bottle. I need the bottle to be wrapped in plastic in ice before I drink it.

I agree COMPLETELY- and just wanted to step back in here for a second to clarify that I was indeed being sarcastic.

I'm just fed up with all the condescending comments that are thrown at our team even as they continue to pile up the wins. It's truly sickening.

Team That'll Disappoint - LSU per Scout

There is alot of reasons we will be really good this year and am not going to get into all of that. The main thing to remember about " talent" level is, the 08 and 09 seasons, we fielded the least talented teams this decade. Our 05 and 06 classes were not top ten at all. We are definitely on the up swing and will do really well this year. Btw, we could have just as easily been 11-1 instead of 8-4. We have been improving every year since 08 too, and this is with nothing but defense.

I agree about the 08 and 09 teams. Maybe "slightly" less talented. But it would have been nice to see Perrilloux not mess up and in action those two years. Some of our defensive woes in those two years were because of bad situations it was put in with bad field position after INT's, etc.

With Miles as our coach we have only been beaten physically twice during that time frame...Florida with Tebow at home and last year at Auburn with Cam...every other game it's been our own mental miscues and coaching errors that afforded the other team victory...

If we play smarter or coach smarter we lose maybe 4 games over the course of the last several years...

Mallaveto as DC's alonne are responsible for over half of the losses we encountered during the Miles era...

We are our own worst enemy every year with the petty penalies and poor coaching decisions...that can be directly attributed to a lack of discipline and a lack of attention to detail...

Yeah, because no other team in country doesn't have this issue.

You guys want perfection. I have news for you. It's not going to happen. EVER. No matter who the coach is on the sideline.

Poor coaching?

I'm sure Saban kept telling himself the same thing about Miles after getting pansed by him in Tiger Stadium.

I think JJ will be better in the pocket and will be more patient under coach K. He just does not have to win the game by himself.

Last time I checked I am an LSU fan and in order to win it all we must improve upon the things that have prevented our team from achieving greatness...what any other team does or does not do matters little if we do what we need to do...that's where my focus is and where it shall remain...

Controlling our own destiny is what concerns me...little else matters when that happens...

Twice in the last two years teams within our own division have sought and achieved perfection...your damn right that's what I want!

For LSU, not winning the national title would be a disappointment, but it might be even worse than that.

Anyone who ever says this is a retard and doesn't deserve to follow sports.

You can have the most talented players (LSU doesn't, or at least doesn't by so wide a margin to make this a meaningful statement), have the most advantageous schedule (LSU clearly doesn't) and even be lucky enough to stay relatively healthy all year and that STILL doesn't anyway near guarantee a team OUGHT to win a title. Look at the deluge of luck that LSU needed to vault from #7 to #2 in 2007!

LSU ought to be in or around the Top 10 EVERY year and be in contention for the SECW crown and a trip to Atlanta. If LSU does that, titles can and will more than likely come. But LSU lives in the SEC...and specifically the SECW. To suggest that it's "National Title or Bust" is part of why some of our fans are never fricking happy...

Would also be the norm...while Les gives us a style to win many games that same style is always good for a couple of losses each year...his teams lack the discipline to win em all..

Since it's inevitable in discussions about Miles to be comparing him to his predecessor so...how many times did Nick Saban's quite disciplined teams go undefeated at LSU? How many times in his five years at LSU did his teams lose less than 3 games per season? Was Nick Saban's style always good for 3 losses each season, minus the anomaly in 2003?

This assessment somewhat fair is also bullshite when they throw in the "They could have been 8-4" argument. Sorry, that applies to anyone and everyone.

And I think we line just as well if not better with Alabama, so that's more bullshite.

This.

I have every reason to believe that our O-Line, WRs, RBs, and especially Defense will be good to great this year barring any injuries to major players. This entire season will come down to QB play, same as last year. JJ does not have to be Cam Newton or Tim Tebow...he doesn't have to win us games, the rest of the team is more than good enough to handle that if we just get smart QB play from someone that will not lose us a game. Flynn is the perfect example

How come when it comes to other teams that pull out a close win "It shows the heart of a champion pulling out a gutty win" LSU does it, "It's was a close lucky win" with the media.
