....as the 14th SEC team. Large brand new markets with the state of Virginia being added. I also don`t think UVA would protest or block a move considering they didn`t want Va Tech in the ACC to begin with. Va Tech also compliments A&M perfectly as a school creating a natural cross division rival. Unless you can get UNC, you take Va Tech as stay at 14. FSU is a great program but you risk pissing off certain long time SEC members and making it MUCH MUCH harder for all current SEC schools to recruit in Florida if FSU is invited in.

In theory, won't ATM make it harder for LSU to recruit Texas?

I like FSU because it would theoretically hurt Bama Auburn and UF in the same way, making it a wash from a recruiting standpoint.

I want Va. Tech. But Tech wants no part of the SEC. The fan base up here is scared to death of the SEC. They actually don't think they would compete.

I can't see Tech leaving the ACC. They wanted in the ACC for years and with the help of UVA and political help got that. I just don't see them switching. They like beating up on the rich kids in football.....

SEC East teams would be playing in state of FL every year instead of every other year (GA would be playing 3 times in two years). Other than us, SEC West teams would be increasing their appearances too, but not as much. ACC teams would be losing 4 appearances a year. How does this make it harder to recruit?

This is the same stupid, massive inferiority complex that FL seems to be exhibiting. Oooh! If FSU joins the SEC we'll never, ever get a top recruit! Nobody will ever want to watch us! What the hell do jorts do to people's brains?

disagree. virginia politics is preventing vt from leaving the acc. that's why vt's administration is being pc about the situation.

A&m will only slightly hurt LSU`s recruiting. FSU will hurt EVERY program`s recruiting in the FL panhandle and even as far west as South La so even FSU could hurt LSU`s recruiting as much or more than A&M. As for Va Tech being scared of the SEC, the impression I got from reading Va Tech boards is that they would be pleased either way. The Tech fans that have mixed emotions about leaving the ACC all admitted that they`d be fools to turn down an invitation from the SEC if offered. In other words, they`d (Va Tech fans on their boards) happily accept an SEC offer if it ever came.

this is 100% correct.

Virginia politicians and the UVA brass worked hard to get VT into the acc. I highly doubt those same folks would allow VT to walk away after such a short time.

My choices for #14 go something like this, with preference going from top to bottom:

FSU
VT
Mizzou
Clemson
Georgia Tech
Louisville
Miami

did you just make this up? because its absolutely incorrect.

'Despite the intensity of the rivalry, Virginia Tech owes its membership in the ACC to the University of Virginia.[8] The Atlantic Coast Conference initially planned to add Boston College, Miami, and Syracuse to the conference lineup. Talks with Syracuse stalled as Jim Boeheim vocalized his opposition to the move, and Duke, UNC, and Virginia consistently voted against adding the Orange. When it became obvious that Syracuse lacked the necessary seven votes, U.Va. President John T. Casteen III took the opportunity to suggest the ACC consider Virginia Tech on June 18, 2003[9]. Duke and UNC voted against the Hokies, but with Casteen's support Virginia Tech was invited to the conference with 7 out of 9 votes. Miami and Virginia Tech joined the ACC in 2004, with Boston College joining in 2005.'

I wonder if Va Tech would be allowed to leave the ACC. The Governor of Virginia through UVA pulled a lot of strings to get Va Tech into the ACC (they wanted Syracuse).

Ok

It is not about competition. It is not going to effect recruiting or our schedule. We play them in every sport every year and recruit against them all the time any way. The only real issue people have is sharing SEC resources with our biggest in-state rival.

I'm hearing that there is no way UF is going to go for FSU being allowed in.

One major booster reportedly said "Over my dead body".

They left because somebody stabbed Dodd in the back to be loyal to the Bear. I can sympathize with that. I'd welcome the Wreck back.

They're just acting in their own self-interest. That's not an inferiority complex. UF is slightly better off without FSU in the SEC. Not a big deal.
