Me and Ms Batman are moving into a new house in a couple of weeks and I looking into getting a gun or two for home defense. I'm thinking something like a shotgun and a pistol so she can have something she can handle when I'm off fighting crime.

Any suggestions on what would be good for me. I'm trying to not spend a lot of money or get anything fancy, just something to have in the house if we need it.

I would use the search function. Oh, and not the judge unless you plan on shootin a mf'r in the face.

A smaller end model shotgun like a youth model would be good for a woman, not to cumbersome to move down hallways and not to much kick to put her on her arse. But it's still got shotgun power, look for 20 or 16 gauge if you can find a 16 but your gonna want buck shot cause we ain't shootin ducks off your sofa.

Many gun show enthusiasts recommend 380s for women, decent round not a whole lot of arse behind it though at least compared to a 45. 45s are good for home defense because you don't have to worry about the perp regaining his composure after getting hit with it. But even then as long as you take Catwoman to range and show her to shoot center mass with a 380 it'll be fine.

Women just have to know what to do when the time comes, men as well. If you let that gun sit in you night stand for months on end without touching it your probably not going to be ready to put somebody down on a moments notice, when the other guy has already been to two other homes that week.

I'd go with a Remington 870 12 guage and either a .380 or 9mm handgun for her.

shotgun

Glock 19 9mm

Walther PK380

But shotgun is better for HD than a pistol IMO

20 gage pump shotgun - Remington 870 is a great choice, The Maverick 88's are a good cheap option as well.

For pistol a .38 revolver is a great option. I would highly recommend a revolver over a semi auto.

It's going to be a little harder to find a HD shotgun in anything but a 12. You could always get some of the low recoil rounds for it. That and a .38 revolver and you should be good. Go shoot both of them alot.

12ga low brass bird shot is pretty nasty at close range. Turn someone's face into ground meat.

not true - 20ga Mav 88 holds 5 rounds, can get a short (18") barrel and if it doesnt have a pistol grip, you can get one for ~30 bucks. What else do you need?

and I'd make her be proficient with the shotgun and save the revolver for myself. My wife is very comfortable with "her" shotgun. Thats why I recommend the 20ga. The smaller kick helps women get familiar with it easier. They arent scared of the kick.
