quote:you've been reading the rant to much. Matheiu is never going to bump inside to MLB. The mustang will feature Claiborne and Simon at corner, Matheiu and either Reid, Brooks, or Loston at nickles, with Taylor, Reid, or Loston at FS, with Hatcher and Baker at MLB.
I am actually curious about how the mustang package works against Oregon. I think this MIGHT play to our favor. We have much more difficult time with a traditional base defense that is bigger.
The mustang package that I am presuming will use Mathieu inside and Hatcher in the middle will be different for sure. I think we can use your speed against you. Whereas Cal and Auburn played with big players that played assignment football.

i think he meant inside to nickel, where he played last year (as opposed to the outside CB role)

I wouldnt call one down year for texas a demise of the Big 12
They lost Nebraska. A&M and some others are looking for a way out.
That conference is going down. The fact that they have so many teams ranked this year is more a product of people not knowing which teams will come out on top because they are all mediocre.
A&M, OSU, Missouri, Kansas State....all mediocre. Not all of those teams will be ranked come season's end.
And Texas is ranked on name only at this point. I actually went to Texas, so I want them to do well. They won't do any better unless they find a running game, and now they have no Will Muschamp.
We'll see.

I don't really understand why both LSU and Oregon fans think that they will just dominate the other team. It sounds so fricking idiotic for either team to justify a win based on LAST YEAR's RESULTS and/or a bunch of new guys who are "SUCH GREAT ATHLETES" who have no meaningful experience under their belts.
Neither LSU nor Oregon can predict how players are going to perform in so many KEY positions. Coaches of both teams are going to try and fix problems from last year's teams and present new (different) challenges for their opponents this year. Honestly, this game can go either way. Both teams will try to impose their will to take advantage of their strengths while taking the other team out of their game plan.
Fans of both LSU and Oregon are delusional at this point because they're so anxious for this football season.
It's pretty much all in good fun at this point, so Oregon fans don't take it PERSONALLY.

Do alot of people on here really think this will be no contest...?

That is what I meant: Mathieu in the nickle and Hatcher at MIKE. That would be a small lineup. It will be interesting to see all that speed on the field.

This will definitely be a war. I believe this will be one of the better opening day games. I hope the Tigers win....SEC.SEC.SEC!

One difference that will be interesting to watch is how Oregon plays on a dry field as compared to the slick wet field they had against Auburn. Most say the terrible footing in the NCG favored Auburn more than Oregon as it negated a lot of Oregon's speed.
So now we will find out. A good fast SEC defense, LSU, against the speedsters. Will the footing make any difference or not? I don't know, but it will be interesting for both fan bases to watch.
Ok, I hope it makes a lot difference and you guys get smoked. Of course if hopes were dollar bills, then I'd be on my South Pacific Island sipping fine beverages instead of talking with you all.

Didn't read whole thread. I am prepared for the mad hater to pull one out of his arse. If you aren't used to or immune to it by now you haven't been a LSU football fan under "the hat".

Didn't read the whole thread because I need to take a dump before work, but I see a lot more delusion seeping out of the Oregon idiots. Should LSU be boasting about a blowout or overlooking Oregon? Of course not. However, this will be more a homegame for LSU than Oregon, and the line of scrimmage will be won by the Tigers. Two slight advantages make up the difference. In regards to the blowout talk, this is just the ranters just getting under your skin, which is what they do... you're canadians

That's funny because i specifically remember Kirk Herbstriet retracting every remark he made about Oregon's speed when Auburn started running jet sweeps and burning oregon's defense to the corner.

I rewatched their game with Auburn, they will be ready to play, they will be very competitive.
