Wanted to revisit a topic about the Saints Super Bowl.

How did you guys watch the game? I mean, being the Saints FINALLY getting there it was the biggest game that I had ever watched. As in it meant more to me than any other game. Except the NFCCG against the Bears.
I made a little scene and scared my wife during the LSU 2003 CG against Oklahoma while at a sports bar.
Wife:"Calm down!"
Me: "Woman...."
Longer story less long. I did not watch the Super Bowl at my neighbors party. I went and had couple pregame beers at his house but left. Watched the game with a pizza and a 6 pack of PRICEY beer. And chose to watch with the only person I know who has suffered more than me. My Dad. It was a quiet analytical viewing of the first half. My Dad and I only got quieter after the big "pick-6" because neither of us wanted to speak to jinx anything.
To relive the glory of 2009. How did you guys spend the Super bowl? And if you were with a group of non Saint fans did you make an arse of yourself.
Long post I know, but I just wanted this discussion.

was on a contract in New Orleans primarily so I could be there during the playoff run. Watched it at my house with my wife and immediate family only. I didn't want people that I didn't really know or care about ruining the experience for me.
I've never been so nervous watching a game on TV. I'd compare it to a close family member or friend having major surgery. I didn't enjoy the game or relax until the TP pick.

I had to watch it alone. I knew I would be miserable company, so told all my friends I would met them whereever, turned my phone off and watched it on my 65' HD TV(humble brag)
I missed out on the first half hour of celebrating but I couldn't stand being at some party where some stupid girl would make comments about why we don't we stop them from scoring or start throwing deep every play.

I watched the game with 20 of my closest friends in my living room in Baton Rouge. I set up 3 synchronized big screens and a separate synchronized kitchen tv. You could see the game and eat/drink from any angle.
edit: I also hooked a laptop with itunes into the sound system, and played "stand up and get crunk" for every field goal and eventually the touchdowns and Lance's 2 pt conversion. We celebrated every point like it was the greatest thing to ever happen to the Saints. Several decades of anguish makes you savor the moment that much more.

This. Was exactly my point. LSU's first championship was enough for me. I watched it at a Fox and Hound. A lot of OU fans. I had the redasss. I would never be "start a fight guy" or anything like that. But I felt sick for half of that game. Ohio State CG I watched it at home. It became a laugher and I wanted to be in bar. Was just with wife and a couple who don't care about the game.

I was out in the middle of a monthlong tour, which included a show in indianapolis literally a week before the super bowl. Those indy people talked so much (good natured) shite. They really didn't think there was a chance in hell that they were gonna lose.
We rolled into Boston and by sheer dumb luck stumbled into the Baseball bar where they happened to watch LSU games and crossed our fingers hoping that they watched the Saints games there too.
We walked in early to six or seven people in Colts jerseys and were kind of thinking like we were shite out of luck BUT we stayed because they were serving free food the whole night, and had $5 pitchers of rolling rock. By the time game time rolled around, those colts fans were still the only ones, and the bar had filled with 200+ saints fans doing what saints fans do- throwing down. There were also more than a handful of Patsy fans just praying that Peyton didn't get another superbowl, watching in awe as new orleans invaded their town.
The result was us downstairs watching the first half with our best friend band from champaign IL, who were not that big a sports fan, and moved upstairs into the throng for the second half. The champaigners just watched in amazement as the place went beserk at the pick 6 and tears started rolling down my cheeks as i realize we were going to actually win. They could not believe our reactions to the game. they literally had never seen anyone react to sports that way. I just kept saying, "y'all just don't understand..."
It was quite literally the best place we could've been aside from new orleans. CNN was there with cameras filming all of us freaking out. People bought us shots, and hugged and screamed. snuck outside and called my pops and he was a shell. could barely speak.
Wish i could've been in nola. but this was the next best thing.

Wow, almost the exact same thing as me. My dad grew up in New Orleans and actually went to the first Saints game ever. Our lucky charm throughout the playoffs was his program from that first game. After the pick 6 me and my uncle were going nuts, knowing that the Saints had just sealed the deal. But my dad, who had seen the Saints blow so many games throughout their history wasn't celebrating yet. After the Colts turned it over own downs, me and my uncle were celebrating again while my dad was speechless with tears in his eyes. It meant so much to him, especially after what Hurricane Katrina did to our family, especially his parents. And after it was all over he busted out a bottle of champagne and walked down the street passing it out to the neighbors.

Watched it at home with my family and girlfriend and we made a crapload of food we knew we could never eat. After the pick 6 by porter my dad picked up my girlfriend and spun her around as we all freaked out. Tears were rolling down my eyes as we hopped into our car and drove around honking the horn and hugging random strangers who were outside their houses as well.
What an incredible night that was.

Watched it from the quarter and videoed the last quarter and ensuing madness on Bourbon. People were hugging strangers, black and white, cops were hugging bums, it was great. I put it on Youtube. My wife got on my shoulders and we just recorded all the insane partying afterwards. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

This is what my view looked like.
There was no way I was going to miss this opportunity. Me and four buds made the trip, and it was obviously amazing.
I always say this now, "After a while, I will forget how much that trip cost me. But I will never forget that trip!"

All of you have some great stories about that night. Unfortunately I had to work that night and watched the 2nd half on a 12x12 inch tv sitting on my desk. I literally lost it on Porter's INT. That's when family and friends started calling my cell. I could barely speak I was so emotional. No other fan base has experienced what we experienced that night, fellas.

We were at the Deanie's Bucktown and met and enjoyed life with some of the best people we ever met. When Tracy's INT took place it absolutely ROCKED in there.

My Seats
I was living in San Francisco at the time. Buddies convinced me Thursday before the game to come to Miami w.o any tickets.
I used miles to fly over Friday night red eye....arrived Saturday morning. Stayed with a good high school friend in Ft. Lauderdale, so my only real expense was the ticket.
Face was $800...and ended up paying $950 before the game.
