Honestly NCAA basketball was once a thing of beauty. It's lost that luster to early entry in the NBA.

Loudest I ever heard the PMAC was LSU Kentucky 1978. This was the Kentucky team that won the national championship with Robey, Givens, Andrews, Macy, etc. LSU won in overtime after the 5 original starters fouled out. 4 freshmen and one senior Floyd Bailey finished the game. Bailey slammed a rebound back that ignited the crowd to the loudest I ever heard.

Remember the game where Dale Brown and Rick Pitino nearly got into a fight?

I saw Dale Brown last week and I told him there was a discussion on Tigerdroppings about the most exciting moment in LSU History ...and I mentioned that for me it was the Memphis State game because I was there and I was 12 years old.

He was talking to Coach Gary Duhe and Duhe said, "I can see it right now"...did an imitation of the Coach from Memphis State giving Dale the hand slap.

LOVE ME SOME OLD LSU BASKETBALL!

I argue all the time that LSU has the 2nd best history in SEC basketball history. The 80's two final fours are events that to me define me somewhat, meaning I remember little details about something 30 & 25 yrs ago like they were yesterday, while I can't remember anything about yesterday

I hope TJ can be the guy to recapture some of that excitement and add to the great memories of LSU basketball

FYI- Saw a Bob Petit 30 minute interview on NBA TV yesterday, if you can find it, it's a must see. It's replaying all week I think. A little LSU but some of the NBA footage was unreal and while I thought I knew a little about the man, I really knew nothing

when I was there from 81-84 you had to get in line at least two hours before they opened the doors to get a seat for an SEC game.

"I remember the game when Duke was #1 in the country. They had Laitner, we had Shaq. The game was live on CBS. CBS stopped showing the student section on TV because it was so out of control."

Pretty sure I skipped class to watch that game.

I was at the LSU Arkansas Game in the Superdome in 81 in Regional semis, and also vs Wichita St a couple days later, Then in 86, I was at the Purdue and Memphis St games in the first two rounds of the NCAA Tourney! Unbelievable excitement and energy in all of those games, but the 86 games were just unfrickingbelievable with the home and smaller venue!Never will forget those moments, and nothing has been close to it since Daddy Dale left!

From 1979 to about 1993, LSU basketball was nearly on par with football, if not the flagship program on campus. Though TJ has had a few down years, I do believe he's on the right track in building a program

You were doing good until the last two sentences. TJ will NEVER pack the PMAC like Daddy Dale did. That's a G U A R A N T E E !!!

I was there every game 84-87. I missed some in 88. I remember the houston game in 83 like it was yesterday. we got beat, but it was fun watching all that talent play. It was the DEAF DOME!

It was - I was there close to mid court.
Once you saw those games, it is miserable accepting the past 2 year of absolute shite from Trent Johnson.

LSU can be a good basketball school too in addition to football and baseball. Dale Brown was the best thing to ever happen to the program. Hopefully TJ can get us back.

I remember the PMAC being pretty alive the first few months of the 06-07 season, especially when ESPN Gameday was in town for the UCONN game. That shite was nuts...Students camping out on the PMAC ramp 24 hours in advance during Christmas break.

...I always laugh when I hear LSU fans say that LSU is a particular type of school (football or baseball).

I am old enough to know that LSU has been every type of school.

LSU really does have unlimited potential. We are only limited by ourselves.

If LSU had a national top 10 caliber team year in and year out, our basketball fans would be comparable to Duke's or any other crazy fan base. Our team's inconsistency is the only thing that stops that.

Me too. The best & loudest game I saw at the Assembly center was the 80/81 Kentucky game. The place was packed and the game was on national TV.

I'll never forget the chants of "JOE HALL SUCKS & MASTERBATE".

I keep cracking up when seeing Dale running off the court into the tunnel without talking to media or giving congrats to players/opposing team.

Its as if he is just hauling arse to the Gold club to open up a tab for himself and anyone who wants to come along and celebrate.

How about the Nick Names:

Willie "Super Sub" Sims
DeWayne "Astronaut" Scales
Leonard "Swat" Mitchell
Greg "Cookieman" Cook

I could go on but need to get back to work!
