Safetman, you're being "that guy". And "that guy" tends to get steamrolled on this board.

So after D-Rad screwed the pooch at GTech and was rumored at the top of UT's list they turn to Alleva??? I don't know that I'm buying but money talks and it would put him closer to NC if that's his aim.

Let's see, worry about potentially replacing Alleva compared to the massive US budget deficit/political gridlock....hmmmmmm.

SIAP:

Nola.com on Alleva

quote:

Baton Rouge - LSU Vice Chancellor and Athletics Director Joe Alleva is being considered for the athletic director's position at Tennessee, according to two Twitter reports.

Alex Anderson, a Knoxville, Tenn., sports radio talk show host on ESPN 1180 tweeted that a source said Tennessee had reached agreement on a deal, which would be announced this week. Alleva has been athletic director at LSU since 2008.
Gannett's Glenn Guilbeau tweeted that Parker Search Firm interviewed Alleva in North Carolina on behalf of Tennessee, according to a soucrce at Tennessee.

South Carolina AD Eric Hyman and SMU AD Steve Orsini were also reportedly being considered for the job to replace Mike Hamilton, who resigned in June amid NCAA investigations of the Volunteers football and men's basketball programs.

"Money, as always, may be the driving force behind Alleva's Tennessee interest. Radakovich was reportedly set to receive a base salary of around $800,000 plus incentives before the Tennessee deal fell through."

Forgot to add...Alleva makes 550K plus benefits/bonuses at LSU.

Anyone else think he might be an intriguing name if Alleva sails?

Most sports have done well and/or improved in Columbia lately.

Admittedly, I don't know much about him; I'm only brainstorming and his name caught my attention.

Haha, the best thing he has ever done for a basketball program is NOT fire the best coach in the country. He's a basketball guy, of course.

Let's just say there isn't anyone at LSU begging him to stay or considering a counter to whatever Tennessee offers.

would we try to hire someone now outright or go with an interim hire for now if it's not Herb?
