UA Combine Report: RB/LB/TE

O.J. Howard By Chad Simmons

Scout had the fields blanketed at the Wide World of Sports on Saturday covering the Under Armour Combine. Scout.com National Analyst Chad Simmons shares his thoughts on RB, LB and TE right here.

The top back on hand Saturday was not able to compete due to an injury back in August and that was Altee Tenpenny. He is an early member of the Scout100 for the 2013 class and he has offers from schools like Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, and Oklahoma early.

In the group that competed, there was a good mix of small and quicker backs and a couple of the bigger backs.

A.J. Turman is a running back out of Boone in Orlando that measured in at 6-feet tall and 198 pounds. He ran the 40 yard dash in the 4.7 second range and he showed what he is on the field in pads – a strong runner who is a straight-ahead runner, and someone who can get yards after contact. He reports a number of early offers from the likes of Duke, Florida State, and Notre Dame among others.

Adam Lane is right around 5-feet 7-inches tall and well put together at 218 pounds. He is a little quicker laterally than Turman and he has showed some good hands coming out of the backfield. Florida has offered Lane.

Ryan Green out of Tampa was arguably the top running back of the day. He ran the 40 yard dash in 4.47 seconds and he showed great quickness when working out of the backfield. He is an athlete with good balance and quick feet.

A few other backs that had nice performances were Desmond Jackson out of North Carolina, Jabo Lee out of South Carolina, and Jamaal Cole out of Georgia.

Hey guys.

Here's a list of kids from Texas that are coming to our Feb 4th Junior Day

There are also a couple more prospects with invites that have either not confirmed or declined.

I found this tidbit about Seals-Jones

quote:

One of our readers asked if we may have the talented WR/TE and Jermichael Finley clone a bit too high in our 80% call for a commitment. The source says that we actually may have RSJ too low. He said, "I think you need to raise it about 10% or so. That kid's going to Texas and he's going to play early. Book it."

Seems weird he would want to visit our Junior Day then.

Also, I plan on updating the profiles and the list of 2013 Prospects of Interests by the end of the week.
