I'm not saying that we don't take that game seriously, but after the Alabama game the past 4 years, we have seemed to have a letdown when it comes to Ole Miss and Arkansas. They are are sky high for those games and it becomes a dogfight. Its like Arkansas and Miss. St. Miss. St. always gives Arkansas fits. They play them right before they play us. But, by the time Arky gets to us, they go all out.

We need to take the energy that we take into the Alabama game to the Ole Miss and Arkansas games. But, these are 18-22 year old kids and it is hard to get them up every game. After Arky having beaten us 3 out of 4 years, maybe we'll get our head on straight about this game.

Water under the bridge but conventional wisdom

Healthy early season LSU team has more convincing wins v healthy early season Arkansas team.

It can go back farther than that.

I do not remember a year in this past decade where we beat Ole Miss in Baton Rouge by double digits. In the last 7 years in particular, they could field some of the worst teams in the league and still find a way to almost beat us.

As for Arkansas, have we ever won in War Memorial Stadium before 2004? Don't remember. I am a young fan here. I know the only times I remember beating Arkansas by double digits in recent memory were in 2003 and 2004.

If it is, the coaching staff needs to be berated for it. Any important conference game should be important as any other game.

Agree 100%...I am tired of excuses, Ark. can get up for the game & we can't?? Do you know how stupid that sounds?? Especially after last season, where the loss cost us a bigger bowl/bigger payout...

Ole Miss, Miss St, and Arkansas are all decidedly below LSU in talent level, but the rivalry is so tense and the stakes are so high that the talent gap is usually negated.

Do we really have any choice who we play in the last game other than Ark? Of our annual opponents they are all spoken for by their rival games:

FLA vs. FLA ST
ALABAMA vs. AUBURN
OLE MISS vs. MSU

I don't know the politics of the Tulane situation, but yeah, I'd like to see us play them in the last game every year instead of Arkansas. We just can't seem to get up for that game over the past 6 years, or so.

Absolutely. I am not buying the "they want it more than us" excuse that some fans buy into.

Dinardo beat the Hogs 17-7 in 1996 and Hallman beat them 30-12 in 1994 in Lr

I live in Arky land. In my opinion if you moved the game it would make a huge difference. Look at Alabama record against them. They gel late in the season. Just like Ole Miss, they lie in waiting for our game. Even in a bad year for them it's a season make or break game. Dont listen to their bullshite. I live amongst them. Alone with the enemy, haha. They HATE our arse and envy our program. Ignore my advice at your own peril and ask other tigers that live up here. They have had a few very lucky breaks in the past few years and they actually believe the hype. I respect them. They are working hard at it but they are not and ne'er will be LSU!

I don't know, every SEC game is important. But I do know I will never go to another game in WMS, that is the worst dump I have ever seen a game in. I wrote a letter to the SEC asking the to inspect it, it is not up to SEC or any conference standards.

The people of Arkansas should be embarrassed to hold a game there. If it is possible to embarrass people from Arkansas.

that seems false, if anything its easier for them to get up for the smaller games as opposed to a 33-38 year old millionaire

Completely agree.

I'm not sure why some are saying that LSU doesn't 'get up' for the game. Hell, that game has been pretty freaking important the last 8-10 years, or so...

Completely false. Most hog fans like LSU and pull for you guys every game but ours. Hog fans hate Texas, and get pissed off to no end losing to auburn, bama (although we expect to lose to bama) and Ole Miss. LSU? sure it hurts and is disappointing, but it's not as big of a frick you as it is to lose to Ole Miss or Auburn. or Aggie for that matter.

I don't buy the LSU fans excuse of the team not being up for it, no more than I believe we are never up for MSU or Ole Miss. Being the last game I tend to believe that both teams are completely up for it. that's why it's such a cluster frick of a game. and exciting.

I think the advantage goes to the underdog, in general, on 'rivalry weekend'...i.e. the last game of the year. Those games just tend to be more competitive. So, yes, I do think that advantage plays into Arky's favor relative to LSU.

We won 31 to 26 in 2006. That was a crazy game. Darren McFadden had an 80 yard run for a touchdown. Followed by a return for a touchdown by Trindon Holiday on the following kick off.
