Can be summed up pretty simply:

Real good piece, but damn it's a fricked up and sad story. Took me 20 minutes to get on with my day.

Definitely shows that some people are just fricked the frick up. Also that our government is fricked up and stupid sometimes. Sad story.

It was Canada's government that was fricked up though right?

I admit, when the second part of the story came around....I was shocked. Like frozen and pissed all at once. Did not see that coming for some reason.

Then take out "our" and it's just that government, in general, is fricked and stupid.

It's extremely sad and I was pissed for a while after watching it. So many people f-ed up and no one had enough balls to say it

This. But it was and still is the best doc I have ever seen.

SPOILERS

And the scream effect when they show that the son was murdered has still stuck with me til this day. Powerful scene.

Was thinking about this the other day. Frankly, I still think it's one of the best things I've ever watched.

It's truly one of the most affecting pieces of film imaginable.

If I had to pick one movie that I think anyone could like/enjoy (as much as something like this can be enjoyed I mean) and were to recommend to someone, it would be this. It's an absolute must see.

Rewatching right now... I'm just struck by the visceral nature of the dad. Just absolutely agonizing to watch. Absolutely horrendous.

Yeah I watched this over the weekend after seeing it mentioned in another thread on here. It was painful to watch and I actually turned it off in less than 2 mins the first attempt. Finally went back the next day and comitted to watching it.

Spoiler I suppose

As a side note, how did you guys feel for her (murdering whore) surviving son? I guess they have no obligation to show his loss but I felt for him as well.

I mean there is always that aspect to any murderer what about the innocent family? Obviously it's not his fault and he would suffer as well...but it's hard to muster up sympathy for anybody that woman is related to...
