QUARTERBACKS - B
Jordan Jefferson will perform better with a playbook with far less plays. I also believe that he will perform better because of pressure from Zach Mettenberger, and because of the coaching of new offensive coordinator Steve Kragthorpe.

RUNNING BACKS - A
Spencer Ware is going to be one of the best running backs in the nation, and I am looking for big things from Michael Ford and incoming freshman Terrance Magee.

WIDE RECEIVERS - B
If incoming freshman Jarvis Landry reports in great shape, LSU will have a solid receiving core in Rueben Randle, Russell Shepard, Kadron Boone and Jakhari Gore.

OFFENSIVE LINES - B
LSU returns four full-time starters in center P.J. Lonergan, tackles Alex Hurst and Chris Faulk, and guards Josh Dworaczyk and Will Blackwell. Blackwell started the Cotton bowl and might be the best offensive lineman on the team.

TIGHT ENDS - A
Deangelo Peterson, Mitch Joseph, Chase Clements and Tyler Edwards are as good as they come.

DEFENSIVE TACKLES AND ENDS - A
Sam Montgomery, Micheal Brockers, Athony Johnson and Lavar Edwards are the real deal. I also like the depth at the position.

LINEBACKERS - B
I like Ryan Baker and am looking forward to a breakout season for the senior. I also like Kevin Minter and incoming freshman Trevon Randle.
DEFENSIVE BACKS - A
LSU will have the best defensive backfield in the nation led by cornerbacks Morris Claiborne and Tyran Mathieu and safeties Brandon Taylor and Tharold Simon. Also, I am not counting out Craig Loston and Eric Reid as starters.

SPECIAL TEAMS - B
LSU will be very strong on kickoff and punt coverage. It might be a little early to grade special teams on kickoffs, field goals and PATs, but the team will be strong in that area because the talent is there.

Not sure if Germans.

Agree or Disagree with the Dandy One?
I really like LSU's Offensive Line in 2011 and would give them an A as well. There are 8 players that have started a game and 11 players have played meaningful snaps in a game. I also think with average QB play, the WR's could warrant an A as well.

I think both WRs and O-Line could both be A. RR should have an outstanding year, as well as RS and may be some FR will step up.

The OL is just way too experienced. I think they blow D-Lines right off the ball.

DD
QUARTERBACKS - B
Jordan Jefferson will perform better with a playbook with far less plays. I also believe that he will perform better because of pressure from Zach Mettenberger, and because of the coaching of new offensive coordinator Steve Kragthorpe.

Mine
C - nothing shows me that this will be a dramatic change especially considering who we are talking about. That will be okay though. Don't need to be an A to win it all. Solid C and not costing the team is acceptable

DD
RUNNING BACKS - A
Spencer Ware is going to be one of the best running backs in the nation, and I am looking for big things from Michael Ford and incoming freshman Terrance Magee.

Mine
B - These are both inexperienced backs. Who will block and how will they pick-up blitz protection is HUGE. I believe we are not as good as last year.

DD
WIDE RECEIVERS - B
If incoming freshman Jarvis Landry reports in great shape, LSU will have a solid receiving core in Rueben Randle, Russell Shepard, Kadron Boone and Jakhari Gore.

Mine - Sounds about right to me. Agree.

DD
OFFENSIVE LINES - B
LSU returns four full-time starters in center P.J. Lonergan, tackles Alex Hurst and Chris Faulk, and guards Josh Dworaczyk and Will Blackwell. Blackwell started the Cotton bowl and might be the best offensive lineman on the team.

Mine
A - Barring injury we will have the best O-Line in the league IMO. We are very expereinced and these guys have seen just about everything.

DD
TIGHT ENDS - A
Deangelo Peterson, Mitch Joseph, Chase Clements and Tyler Edwards are as good as they come.

Mine
AGREE - They will get some work with Coach K. When Peterson was playing- not injured - Crowton was a better coach. We missed him last year during that injury stretch.

DD
DEFENSIVE TACKLES AND ENDS - A
Sam Montgomery, Micheal Brockers, Athony Johnson and Lavar Edwards are the real deal. I also like the depth at the position.

Mine
B+ - Too many questions with respect to fully recovering from injuries and new faces. They will be very good though.

DD
LINEBACKERS - B
I like Ryan Baker and am looking forward to a breakout season for the senior. I also like Kevin Minter and incoming freshman Trevon Randle.

Mine
C - Again this year will be a bad year for Backers. The loss of Sheppard is too much to overcome. They just need to be solid against the run for support of that D-Line. If the D-Line and DBs play well they can be good enough to get us there.

Mine
Agree with this. We will be very good.

DD
SPECIAL TEAMS - B
LSU will be very strong on kickoff and punt coverage. It might be a little early to grade special teams on kickoffs, field goals and PATs, but the team will be strong in that area because the talent is there.

Mine
Not sure. We lost some good kickers, but I really don't know what we have there. i do beleive our special teams on coverage will be good, it is the kicking game I worry about.

I like Don but he may want to edit his DB predictions.

I would give our WRs an A. Need the QB to get them the damn ball. QB gets a C. LBs a C. I agree with everything else. Would like to see a young OL displace Dwor at G. His feet are terrible and gets beaten on the first and second step quite often.

If anything, he should be moved to tackle. He is certainly built more like a tackle.

He is the fastest O-lineman on the team.

He has the most starts on the OL coming into this year and he is the ONLY lineman for LSU on the Athlon All-SEC list.

Sometimes the ignorance on the rant is appalling.

Very experienced OL and Blackwell playing healthy for us, with T. Bob who can stand in at both guard and center positions.,

A complete rb in Spencer Ware, a back up who could break one at anytime on the option in M. Ford, and a Scat back who can get outside when we need to spread the D out.

The secondary will be top 5 in the nation no doubt.

LB core I'm not sure about but the DL has the potential on the inside and the ends are fast and will cause havoc for opposing qb.

WR also have the potential to go off this year but it will depend on QB play along with better route running and catching. And for us to use screens again, we will have to put more emphasis on their blocking. Don't send Shepard out deep unless he improved his catching which I believe he should by midseason. Work him and Fore into some screens, quick slants, etc were the can get the ball a make something happen.

QB no matter who plays I think we'll be fine at this position. I mean we have a fourth year senior, fifth year senior, and pretty good sophmore.

Chris Todd (only played in 6 games junior year but these are bad stats)
86/156 55.1% 903 5/6 junior
198/328 60.4% 2612 22/6 senior

Jonathan Crompton(only played in eight games junior year but worst stats)
86/167 51.5% 889 4/5
224/384 58.3% 2800 27/13

Tj Yates
214/355 60.3% 2136 14/15
282/422 66.8% 3418 19/9

These are 3 qbs who greatly increased their performance from their junior to senior year within the past 2 years. So whether its JJ or JL or Mett, somebody will put up good numbers for us. I'm predicting 3000 passing yards total no matter how many QBs we play. We are just too loaded.

I like Dandy Don and I like his optimism, though he sometimes goes a little further than I would in that regard. I'd have more faith in his forecast if he didn't have Simon at safety and Gore at wide receiver, though.

I would swap the OL and TE ranking I think the OL will be solid and I like the TEs I just think Peterson although has big play potential he still plays a little on the soft side. We didnt get to see a lot of the TEs under Crowton either hopefully that will change this year.

Fast doesn't equate to quick and I don't care what Athlon publishes. Love his attitude, but been watching him get beat off the snap for two years.

That would be a colossal mistake. Hurst did a great job on the right side last year and hopefully Faulk and/or Collins can adequately fill the left side.

You spent a long time with that post and this statement makes you lose all credibility. Have you ever heard of 3 to play 3. Mett is not a junior.

To early to say, but I thought Crowton was better OC than a coach.

He left out James Wright, who is as good as any of those he did mention. Add him in and that B is an A even if you just count Randle, Boone, and Wright.

He has been moved to tackle for the last two seasons when a tackle went down.

Hopefully? I am not sure we should "hope" our left tackle is adequate. Before JD's surgery this spring, he was going to get the first crack at LT this year.

Honestly, JD projects much, much better as a tackle. He is undersized for a guard, but would be ideal for handling the speed of guys on the outside at tackle.

Quarterback- C/D, definite improvement

Running Backs-B due to inexperience. Good news is running backs don't need experience, could easily be an A+ by midseason.

WR-A on talent, just need someone to get them the ball

OL-A+ will be the best in the nation

DL-B great talent, little experience

LB-C/D see DL

DB-A+ Best in the nation

Just need to hang on to the ball on offense and get around 200 yards passing for this team to win a title.

I like the Danderooski's assessments. I also really like his weekly game analysis, which usually go something like this -- In my opinion, if the Tigers can run the ball effectively, mix in the short passing game game, stop the run, limit big plays, make some big plays on special teams, and win the turnover battle -- they will win the game.

It's pretty obvious that as far as talent is concerned we're in a better spot.. and let's not forget.. prior to this last season Ridley was a FB.
