I thought the Main Filet I had was great. My girlfriend got the Petite filet.

I went-and always go-rare, & she got Medium Well (yech).

We split an order of mashed taters-cuz I guess that's just the LP in me-and we ordered the Chocolate Lava Cake w/2 scoops of Blue Bell.

I have to say, I was impressed. My date said she was, as well, but when I asked her, she said Ruth's Chris is admittedly better.

I'm gonna say their filet at Fleming's ranks 1-2 with the filet out at Dutch's in French Settlement. If you haven't eaten out that way, order their lightly fried Green Beans, order the Filet with the baked Sweet Potato.

Low country ambiance & presentation, but the steak is fantastic.

Anyway, back to Fleming's, LOL. I would definitely recommend it. A bit pricey for me, but okay to do every once and a while.

What's the collective opinion of the F&D Board?

Did you break up with her and force her to take a cab home?

I'm a fan, like the atmosphere for a date better at Flemings over Ruth's

i believe when judging a restaurant it's definitely relative to the location. it's one of the best steaks in Baton Rouge. read that however you'd like.

I'll agree with her.

i ate at the two back to back nights about 4 weeks ago.

Flemings steak was great. I thought Ruth's was slightly tastier.

the kicker was realy all the sides. ruth's sides were soooo much better than flemings.

I dont get the knock on Ruths atmosphere. It feels like a steakhouse to me, i like that.

Flemings for the bone in ribeye, Ruths for the filet. I like both stops in BR.

..anyone who orders a filet med-well, has zero credibility when discussing anything on best steaks in BR.

Flemings>>>>Ruth's Chris

ETA: The last time I ate a RC, it was like someone piled on the salt during the grilling.

Really? I've always thought that Ruth's sides never live up to their steaks, and that Fleming's has better sides.

But I don't go to either place for the sides.

for the size of the city it's lacking. i've never been to a steak joint in BR than I thought had the whole package. (salad, appetizers, steak - meat quality/seasoning/execution, wine list, dessert, atmosphere).
