Its a juvenile of some sort but I'd figure it had developed enough to look like a small adult. First time we've seen a fish like this in the lab.

They came out of a trawl in Barataria Bay

Wow. Looks like a pirahna. Shouldn't its belly be red though? Could it be a hybrid? Should be wider in the midsection.

It looks like an American Shad. They dont lose their teeth until they are greater than 8"

Looks mostly like a bluefish but the soft part of the dorsal doesn't look quite long enough. Spiny part of dorsal is either wrong or just not visible in the picture which is often the case with fish pictures after the fish is out of the water.

I am going with bluefish.
