Rod/Reel Suggestions

I'm going to Bass Pro tomorrow and I'm looking to pick up a rod/reel for inshore saltwater fishing (from a kayak if that matters). Looking to spend less than $200 with line and everything. Anyone have any recommendations?
I have almost exclusively fly fished before so I don't really know much about conventional tackle.
Thanks for your help!

The only thing I will suggest is getting a medium action rod that is 7'. Fishing from a kayak, you need that extra legnth when the fish go in front of your yak. You need the clearance and the leverage. For inshore fishing I have used a cheap spinning combo from Academy. It does everything I need. From specks to a 33" 14# red I caught last fall.
Spinning Reel Combo
You may be looking for something besides a spinning reel, but def go with the 7' rod.

If you've got $200 to buy an inshore rod/reel your choices are pretty much limitless. I agree that 7' is the way to go and I'm partial to Penn spinning reels...

i heard cabelas has the curado for 140 right now, if i had 200 and was looking for an inshore combo, which is exactly my situation actually.. i would pick up a curado at cabelas, a decent quality 6'6" or 7' medium action rod for 50 and then just throw on 100 yards of mono

Definitely buy a curado while the price is right. Mine is my baby (always have the reel cover on it to keep it fresh)

Get a Curado for baitcast, and Sahara for spinning. Throw them on a Falcon or Allstar rod and you will be happy.

If you're only inshore fishing a spinning reel is the way to go. You can get a quality spinning reel for cheaper than a batcaster of comparable quality. Then like was said a 7' medium rod

The Shimano Curados are on sale right now at BPS for $140. Absolutely the best deal you'll find. Find a rod for about $40, Bass Pro makes some good ones. Feel them out and find one that you like.
I like stiff 7' rods, but that's just my preference.

Academy has the curado for around $130 right now and some good seals on a variety of rods.

IMO, the shorter the rod in a kayak, the better. I have landed close to a hundred reds ranging up to 15 lbs. on a 6 ft spin rod. My yak is 13'6 and don't see a need for a rod longer over 7, but I prefer 6 or 6'6. When I use my 9 ft fly rod it is a chore to land a fish because of the additional length of the rod.

Curado and all-star both on sale at academy right now. Hit em up.
