LSU comes in at #6

Kind of surprised USC was as low as they are. Or that Ohio State was as high. Kind of similar situations if you ask me....which he didn't.

Little surprised Georgia is above us and Bama simply for the MNC factor. All these other schools have at least competed for one in the last 30 years.

I am surprised that Georgia is that high. Top 15 but not top 5 IMO.

Penn St. is not a more desirable job than Notre Dame, Michigan, and USC(even if they are on probation).

That list has flaws. And Az ranked over Wisky, TAM, SoCar, Clem, Mia, etc..?

Outside of the Dick Tomey 'Bear Down' era, I don't know much of Az Football..nor Az Hoops until Lute left Iowa.

The forthcoming cavalcade of SEC schools probably should be listed as 4a-4d, but my bosses won't let me have a four-way tie. So the SEC East's best jobs get a slight nod over the SEC West's best jobs only because the competition doesn't seem so cutthroat in the East. You're only supposed to win the national title every other year at Florida or Georgia; at LSU and Alabama, you're supposed to win the national title every year.

This is excellent writing, btw.

i think its an excellent list, personally. even dinged bama a bit for their over obsessiveness. its clear he went 1. recruiting base 2. money 3. prestige

i think LSU #6 is dead on. UGA is a great job.

Subjective list, but very close to what I might put.

However, I'm biased against cold weather and I would never "like" to coach at OSU or ND

IMO, Oklahoma, Georgia and Florida shouldn't be as high as they are.

All great jobs and I could argue for any of them to be number 1.

Didn't you read the article? He explains why in each paragragh. And FWIW, I agree. The SEC East, at this very moment, is quite a bit weaker than the SEC West. If you were offered the chance to coach a team in the SEC and you were told that you had the option of playing Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Vandy, UK and Tennessee vs. playing Auburn, Alabama, MSU, and Arkansas, which would you choose.

USC has been nailed with some pretty tough sanctions.

Ohio State is still a goldmine of money and recruits despite possible NCAA sanctions.

Pretty good analysis by the author.

Only an argument for Florida would make you sound like a sane person.

It's subjective. My reasons will be different than yours. I could rationalize almost all major schools for a number 1 spot.

one is a private school with a smaller enrollment in a city with tons of talent but also a conference rival and a lot of transplant residents that are not necessarily loyal to local schools. The other is a ginormous state school that is the only big fish in a pretty talent deep state, with a very large and loyal fan base, so no they are not similar at all.

Uga should be up there. Strong recruiting base with only one other D1program in ga tech. Nice place to live, and a new coach could easily compete with UF and Tenn. I think richt is gone next year if they arent in discussion to win the east by seasons end.

They got to do something to not let usce and utenn pass them by.

its subjective, but its pretty hard to argue with Texas and Ohio State as 1 and 2.

I'd put Bama were UGA is, other wise top 6 is right on.

I was thinking the same thing. T Boone Pickens may be right on par with Phil Knight from a donor standpoint or at least pretty damn close. But even with that they're still the red-headed step child in the state compared to OU.
