Our front four were manhandled in that game. DT' s made very few plays and were pushed out of position on most plays. The new guys looked better in the spring game but as we know that was against out 2nd and 3rd OL. We have Brockers and Logan starting both at DT but were recruited as DE's. We have Downs who struggles to be an every down player and Davenport who never sees the field. Brockers seems to be the best we have. The other DT will be a combo of Logan and Downs only because the freshman will need time to learn to play consistent. If we loose Brockers before the season we may need to move some OL to DL. Which is why Davenport should stay on defense I don't think he has time to learn OT anyway. We need to recruit a true DT this year and not another DE and hope he will agree to play DT. If this position becomes a strength then Brick Haley should be the coach of the year.

Auburn had a very good oline. Don't worry too much about it.

AU's OL last year was solid. LSU should have one of the better front 4's in the league this year.

AU's O-line manhandled everyone last year. Didn't the starters play together for 4 or 5 years?

DT is a huge concern. In fact, the middle of our defense could be what loses us games. No MLB. I know our guys have potential at DT but they're overall very inexperienced even rotating in a lot last year. None of them really showed a true start either. I mean, they weren't horrible but they weren't Dorsey/Nevis either. That and Downs has injury problems, so we can get real young there quick. I have a felling Oregon's gameplan will be to gash the middle early and test us.

Minter isn't a scrub, he'll definitely hold his own this season.

As for DT, Brockers, Freak, Logan, Downs, and Ego(maybe Mickey Johnson too) is a very athletic rotation that won't disappoint IMO.

I agree with this. Minter will not disappoint and a rotation of Minter, Baker, Francois, Hatcher, Barrow sounds great to me.

I think DT is fine as well. I think Brockers could break out, Chavis stated Freak is physically a 3rd year player, and Logan/Downs to round out the 2 deep is nice. Throw in Ego, Dennis Johnson, and Mickey and I think the DT depth at Lsu is fine. Lavar Edwards can also move over and play DT.

Part of the issue in AU game was Chavis gameplan blew. The defense is at it's best when it's aggressive and our defense lost it's aggressive edge that game.

Getting Sam back will be so huge. Plus, to the OP, in regards to the run stopping ability of our DTs, last year they were both under 290. This year, our whole rotation will be over 290, except for Downs, who I think will be passed up by Freak. I see this being the main rotation.

DE-Sam Montgomery, Lavar Edwards, Barkevious Mingo, Ken Adams, Chancey Agayhere
DT-Mike Brokers, Bennie Logan, Ego Fergusen, Freak Johnson, Josh Downs

We will be allright

Our offensive line was composed of four seniors that had been playing together since their freshman season and a slot that had three guys rotate in it, all of them pretty good (and all of them probably starting this year).

They manhandled every defensive line they faced except for Alabama in the first half.

DT is LSU's most uncertain spot on the field next year.

I think you have a very good player in Brockers but we don't really know what to expect from the others.

Downs isn't the answer as a starter as he is undersized and has been injury prone. He offers a good guy for depth though.

Anthony Johnson or B. Logan are the two guys we need to step up big time. I think Johnson is the starter by year end. Both of these guys are absolutely critical to our success next year.

I am not expecting huge things from Ego next year. I think he still have some leverage issues and needs to continue to get in shape and learn the techniques. Lastly, I never like it when a guy is flipping between positions...and he has been between SDE and DT his entire time on campus. I think he will add depth and another big body but if we are depending on him then we are in trouble against the teams with good OLs.

Minter better be healthy and perform this year because we don't really have anyone to replace him at MLB. I guess his backup is Welter? Nonetheless, Minter needs to perform or we will be missing our rock in the middle.

We could also see C. Ag. rotate on the inside this year to give some help at DT if we are having major issues there. I think we are as loaded as anyone in the country at DE so that will be an exciting spot on the field to watch. I hope that Maclin can offer some great rushing ability. I love his build and his athletic ability.
He is someone that could be a nice surprise if it all clicks.

We played on our heels the entire game. Terrible game planning for that game. We were in "react" mode all game instead of "attack" mode.
