Ridiculously overrated. It's a solid fast food burger, but the fries were sub-par. Shouldn't even be put in the same sentence with a halfway decent restaurant hamburger.

I prefer Angry Dog or, on occassion, Wingfields. Tried The Commissary last week, and it was outstanding.

1st trip to L.A. & everyone told us we had to try In-N-Out. Tried it once and it was enough. Better than McD's, BK, and other chains but nothing memorable. Fries were good but burger tasted marginally better than any other fast food chain. Good value for money though

I doubt you make it to San Diego, but if you do, you have to go to HODADS! The best burger ever. Awesome triple thick milkshakes. Just awesome.

California ex-pats (at least the dozens I've known in Dallas) do.

I tried it in Los Angeles a few years back, totally agree about being overrated.

It's not, it's always been known as a fast food hamburger.

Is that the new one in Frisco? Are they using the same meat source as the western locations?

There's one in Frisco and one in Allen, with 3 more opening soon. Not sure where their cows come from, but their distribution center is here; apparently it has to be within a day's drive of the locations to keep ingredients fresh.

Seems like a lot of effort for something no better than Whataburger (albeit different).

Close to the beach off Newport Avenue.
Menu

The burger in the pic is a single.

Been to Hodads. Absolutely love Hodads. Last time we were in SD, we stayed a few blocks south of the OB pier overlooking the Pacific. Hodad's had the most fabulous hamburgers I've ever eaten. The double is gigantic. We also tried the onion rings & milkshakes. Everything was excellent. It had the feel of an old beach movie. It's the only restaurant we went to more than once during our trip to SD.
