Given up. It's pathetic, giving up 30 runs in an SEC wkend and they're getting worse
And I don't want to hear it's young, it's new bats....this is bullshite of the highest order

I've been very quiet on the topic, but it is getting harder and harder to watch.

Lots of division within the team and assistant coaches. Very similar with what happened with Malleveto and the team.
The talent is there. You get good serviceable assistants instead of PM's buddies and you'll have a CWS team. Team chemistry would improve first and foremost along with fundamental play.

Another coaching clinic put on by the very articulated face of the program.

After Rooney left and before Grewe was hired, this guy wanted the job as LSU pitching coach, but couldn't even get a phone call from PM. He was also a pitching coach under Skip in the 80's.
Tom Brown was a major leaguer for only two weeks, but he was a workhorse during that time. With the 1978 Seattle Mariners who lost 104 games, he made his debut on September 14, 1978, and pitched in 6 games in the next couple weeks. His ERA was 4.15 on a team whose team ERA was 4.67. He gave up no unearned runs. He was released the next spring.
Led the nation with a 0.51 ERA in 1972 at Northeast Louisiana University
In 1989, Tom Brown played for the Bradenton Explorers of the Senior Professional Baseball Association.
Since his playing days ended, he has been a longtime minor league pitching coach.
1989-1990 Pitching coach Hagerstown Suns
1991 Pitching coach GCL Orioles
1992-1994 Minor League Pitching Coordinator Baltimore Orioles
1995-1998 Pitching coach Oklahoma RedHawks
1999 Pitching coach Las Vegas Stars
2000-2002 Minor League Pitching coordinator San Diego Padres
2003 Piching coach Portland Beavers
2005 Pitching coach Fresno Grizzlies
2006 Pitching coach Albuquerque Isotopes
2007-2009 Pitching coach Sarasota Reds
2010-2011 Pitching coach Carolina Mudcats

I disagree. Maybe the potential is there, but this team is the least talented since Mainieri's 1st year. And I don't care what the recruiting classes were ranked...obviously the recruiting services were wrong.
Posted on 4/24/11 at 4:51 pm to medtiger
2009 class in particular was weak.
Posted on 4/24/11 at 4:52 pm to medtiger
No, I think the talent is there, just no chemistry.
Posted on 4/24/11 at 4:52 pm to mametoo
curiously, i wonder why he moved around with same capacity so many times? Was he job hopping?
Posted on 4/24/11 at 4:53 pm to medtiger
I just turned on the game and saw that they gave up 19 hits. Holy crap, 19?!?!?!

Talent is there in certain spots. 1-9, this is NOT a talented lineup. It's not terrible...best player in the league and soon to be in Jones.
Meanwhile, it's the guys -- hate to say -- like Hanover, Nola, Katz, Dozar, and Edward who are the real problem. If Nola was hitting .230, would he be starting still? Yes. Hanover has zero homeruns and was our cleanup guy a year ago for a while. Who can take his spot? Diddier? Not really. I said before that Maineri tried to see Mason Katz as a great player who, in so many words, once sucked. Well, why was he recruited?
We have too many guys who are replaceable in the lineup. Then we have no one to replace them.
This team is frustrated. They're not quitting. That's not their character. They're finding out how good the rest of the league is. Look at LSU in OOC -- very well. Five wins over quality programs.

I think quite a few minor league coaches move from team to team quite frequently.

The team gave up weeks ago IMHO

Understandable that this team would struggle this year considering the youth but,no way in hell should be this bad in every aspect of the game. These kids are better than this.
