No Spoilers:
Loved it. the opening is great. if you enjoyed scream 1 and 2 and didnt care for scream 3, this is the movie for you. with craven and the original writer, it seems like 3 never happened and they never left the series.
i highly recommend it. still has nice homages to past movies, knocks the horror genre, and still keeps some twists.

Gonna have to wait for DVD. I don't want to have to look through the cracks of my hand in public. Something about that mask freaks me out.

Going to see this tonight.
Glad it's more like the first two and less like the 3rd.

Just got back. I couldn't disagree more. The first Scream was amazing. This one was terrible. I almost walked out.
However, I am having a rotten day (even with a long lunch/movie thrown in) and I was by myself, so that may be affecting my opinion.

Saw it last night also. It was actually really good. Wes Craven doesn't disappoint.

Looks like you might be standing alone right now. Not sure how you could hate this one but like the first. I felt like scream 4 captured the same spirit as the first and even added to it in a nice way.

I liked 1 & 2, never wasted my time w/ 3. The few parts I saw were horrible.

Spoiler Alert:
A few observations:
1. All the subtlety of Robert Jackson's voice in the first one is gone. It is over the top every time you hear it. In the first movie, he started with a little banter and then he just flips into psycho mode. That's what made it so spooky. In this one, he's "I'm gonna cut your fricking throat until I feel bone" right off the bat.
2. The cinematography made me feel crowded. Very different, I feel, from the first.
3. Hayden Panettiere looks like a short, 46-year-old woman who has been smoking and hitting the tanning beds since she was 12. And her hair was fricking awful.
4. The police dept was believable in the first. Bunch of decent cops plus goofy, lovable Dewey. This time Dewey's the sheriff and he's the most competent member of the dept?
Not comprehensive, but some glaring irritations.

Yea I hate that hair cut she has(she is still wearing it short) but she's still really hot and I'd smash. I did like her in this movie, she was funny

I can't wait to see this

It's a little too self-aware for my taste, some good scares, and I definitely didn't see it coming, but I guess once you get to a 4 and in the YouTube era, you have to be a little self-referential

Spoilers:
ill give you the hair. other than that, id have to disagree. i dont think you know what someone wo hits the tanning bed a lot looks like. just look at her vs anyone on the jersey shore
I think this was done on purpose. Its a small town where not much has happened since the first. they also mention how cops are in the movies. i think it was a joke on purpose

Way better than 2 or 3 but I was a bit underwhelmed. It tried a little too hard. Some of that shite was just obnoxious.
Also, the cops thing was 100% on purpose.
