I eat at RC from time to time because my boss likes to bring clients there and to give bonuses in the way of gift certificates.

I honestly don't see the big deal about that place. I've ordered filets medium-rare before and had them encrusted in burnt fat. Not marbleized very well at all. Sometimes it has been pretty good, though. Most of the sides are boring, IMO.

Why the hell would I get fish at a steakhouse? I prefer Fleming's steak over Ruth's.

So you ordered the filet then complain about the marbleization? I remember the first time I went to a steakhouse.

Perhaps I am simply lacking the requisite intelligence one needs to know whether or not I enjoy a chewy steak, or not. A big strip of connective tissue all around the steak really isn't my thing. Not for that kind of money.

I just think people hate on Ruth's because they think it's cool or some shite. You didn't get a filet encrusted in fat. You're just making that up. The filet is the leanest cut of beef that even Logans couldn't manage to encrust it fat.

Only thing Im curious about is how you could tell what the marbleization was like after it was cooked..

As for the OP. For me in BR I prefer Flemmings. I love Ruths but had them screw up on our orders too many times to make it worth going back.

For filet you can get Choice cuts at Ruths depending on the time of the year. I dont knw what a filet encrusted in fat looks like though. There isnt much fat to begin with. Maybe this was a NY Strip?

Im not saying you are lying Im just curious how you could identify small cells of fat in the meat that is caramalized or turned to liquid at very high temps.

I've had one stellar and one sub par experience at Flemings.

I've had 50 or so very good experiences at Ruth's Chris.

However, if I had to choose between the two, I would probably go with Flemings.

Flemming's

always get the lava cake with the fam. Their appetizers are better (although I do enjoy the crabtini at Ruth's). I also like Ruth's salads more, even though it is just a fricking salad.

Steaks:Ruth's
Salads:Ruth's
Appetizers:Flemming's
Dessert:Flemming's
Sides: Femming's potatoes and their mac'n cheese are the tits, asparagus is obviously a wash, etc...gotta go with Flemming's

drinks? not old enough to order

I guess this is what I don't understand about this pissing contest. Most people in this thread said Ruth's for steaks and Flemings for everything else. Then they go on to talk about a fricking molten lava cake? I'm not an OT baller so I don't got to either place very often but if I'm going to drop $150 on a meal it's going to be at Ruth's.

Why would anyone go to a f'ing steakhouse for cake or appetizers? This thread is retarded. Flemming's is full of suck.

I don't think Fleming's sucks but when I'm spending that kind of money I'd rather go to Ruth's. Btw, they have molten lava cake too at Ruth's that's just as good AND they often have off the menu items because the place actually lets their chefs cook. Unlike Fleming's who has to wait for Uncle Outback to send down their menu items.
