Make Zach Thornton the permanent third GK...

Can someone give me a recap? I couldn't watch last night.

In the 75th minute when the Paraguayan elbowed jones, his reaction was priceless.

No, he would have slipped and fallen on his own.

And Jones was waay better than Edu.
Jones had one pass in particular that was just jaw-dropping. IIRC it started a Lichaj break.
Speaking of Lichaj, at this point I don't see how he's not in the starting lineup in 2014 along with Chandler and maybe Ream.
As for Edu, wasn't there a possibility that he'd become a defender? Is that off the table?

They tried that pre-WC and it didn't work too well. So yeah, it's off the table.

The formation with two right backs on the field might look a little strange.

I think I would take two guys standing in the same spot on the right side if the only other option was one guy on the right and Bornstein on the left.

Anything to get the Jovial Jew on the bench.

He splits his time between Chivas USA and the drive-thru at In-N-Out Burger.

I caught the 2nd half...things that stuck out to me...JP thinks Tim Howard plays for Fulham, the on field dueche doesn't know his right arm from his left...the US had to two shots on goal that I can't believe the GK blocked...no worries it was friendly

The US isn't the only country with left back issues. It seems to be the weakest position around the world, outside of France, which cruelly has 3 or 4 outstanding left backs.
I think we should do what Brazil did at times to get Maicon and Andre Santos on the field at the same time. Play Lichaj and Chandler. Bornstein is a clear level below all of the other guys that play major minutes for the US, and Bocanegra is already too slow for the outside position.

Michel Bastos played LB for Brazil in the last WC.
I'm pretty sure he's a forward at his club.

Yep, but they also used Alves and Maicon together at times in both the Confederations Cup, when Alves hit the game winner against South Africa, and a few points in the World Cup.
Players nowadays are versatile. No reason to go with such a huge liability on the field every game because it is his natural position.

+1
Even though Sheep said that was stupid. I like Chandler as much as everybody else does, but Lichaj is too good to sit IMO.

I think soccer pundits exaggerate the difference between lb and rb, it's really not that much different, except sending in balls.

Agree.
Just because Bornstein is dominant with his left, allegedly, doesn't mean he's more suited for that position than; Spector, Chandler, Lichaj, Bocanegra, RunDMB
