Bill Franques...Best Voice...Ever?

I really enjoy his PA work at Alex Box and the color commentary he provides during road games with Jim Hawthorne. He has the best radio voice I've ever heard and I'm glad he has stuck around LSU Athletics for so long without a nationally syndicated radio show snatching him up.

I just got back from Disney and on the way there, was forced to listen to the University of Florida radio broadcast to catch Game 1 of LSU vs Florida.
Let me just say, that after listening to that guy, I have a whole new level of appreciation for Hawthorne - as goofy and bitter old man as he is.
Their radio guys were TERRIBLE.

Bill is very robotic and monotone to me. Kinda boring really. But 100 times better than Hawthorne and far behind Hannigriff.

Hanni sounds like he swallows a handful of zoloft before the broadcast. Dude has the most monotone ho-hum sounding call of a homerun out of all of them. And he's gotten a little arrogant over the years too.

Coulda swore I heard Hannagriff bust arse in the booth a couple weeks ago during a mid-week game. Seriously, even call a friend to confirm. He heard it too.

You just aren't used to listening to someone who actually understands the game and can relay what is going on pretty accurately to you.

i like his voice, and he's not too boring for me.
Charlie doesnt have that good a radio voice, but his emotion and knowledge make the broadcasts interesting. He can also be witty.
Ive never been one to hate on Hawthorne, but he's just getting worse and worse every year it seems

I don't want to see LSU give Charles H. the job by default. I agree with the criticism of Hawthorne. And I also think LSU sports radio network needs to find somebody better as his replacement.
Let Charles H. stick to commentary and production - that's his strong suit.

Won't happen.
They will look around I am sure.
People will complain either way. That is a given.
At any given moment, people are bitching about Hawthorne, Hanagriff, Kevin Ford, Patrick Wright, Bill Franques, Ricky Blanton, Doug Moreau, or Jordy (i.e. anyone who speaks into a microphone for LSU)

The team of Hawthorne and Francques would be perfect if it didn't include Hawthorne.
