I was sitting in the stands and it looked like Whitson had to be 90-93 or so, and Maddox 90-94 maybe,, yet someone told me that the velos on TV showed Whitson high 80's to 90. Having seen Whitson on the summer circuit, I know he throws harder than that. Did anyone sit behind an accurate gun Sunday?

Gator pitcher on Sunday was 88 - 92 on TV. Never saw a pitch by either team above 93 in all 3 games.

IDK about Sunday, but Gausman was still topping out @ 95 in the 7th inning Saturday night. He was bringing it at around 97-98 early in the game.

Maddox threw few breaking balls,, and had LSU hitters jammed,,he still looked like he was throwing real hard especially his first couple of innings.

Alsup looked like high 80's the first couple of innings then dropped off - as evident by the baseballs flying

There was two Baseball Scouts at the game Sunday. Guess I should have asked. One was from the San Diego Padres, the other was Art Gardner with the Major League Baseball Scouting Bureau.

Selected in the first round of last June’s Major League Baseball Draft by the San Diego Padres with the ninth overall pick…

We were talking about this over the weekend. How in the hell did UF get the #9 pick in the draft to come to school. He turned down $2.1 million.

Didn't Zach Lee get $5 million from the dodgers?
Found this on ESPN:
The deal, which is pending a physical examination that is expected to take place Wednesday in Los Angeles, carries a $5.25 million signing bonus that will be paid out during the next five years.

It is the biggest signing bonus awarded to a draft pick in Dodgers history, shattering the mark of $2.3 million given to first-rounder Clayton Kershaw in 2006.

Yes he did.

He got alot more than guys in front of him. One reason he dropped was b/c many did not think they could sign him though.

I believe he was picked 29th. I thought he was projected as a mid first rounder. Maybe it was mid to late.

Either way he got a larger signing bonus than most drafted in front of him.

What makes me mad about the Zack Lee deal is that the owner of the Dodgers is taking out loans to keep the franchise afloat, but he give a giant signing bonus to Lee. It almost seems like MLB teams go above and beyond to sign players that signed with LSU.
