Just got a brand new slow cooker, first one I've ever had
What are some of your favorite recipes?
I think the first thing I want to cook in it is some ribs or a pork roast

Put you a Boston Butt in that bad boy,(fat side up) wit about an inch of water, maybe a lil apple juice/cider, and season it however you like your BBQ ... (maybe a lil liquid smoke if you like that kind of action) ... leave that in for 8-10 hours, (i usually put it on in the AM and its ready for dinner) ... take it out( you wanna scoop it from the bottom, as it will try to fall apart), lop that layer of fat off, and it should just crumble in an aluminum pan if you just press it with a spoon. That one bone should pop right out clean as a whistle. Mix with your favorite sauce, and serve on whatever bun/bread floats yer boat, and you're welcome my friend.

No problem, man. It makes a lot though. I usually do that for game watching with buddies, but it also freezes well.

Best advise on smoking/slow cooking is:
Get a thermometer with a wired meat probe. Cook you meat to proper temps. You will get great results! Monitor your pit temps and keep the pit temps in the proper range for what your cooking.

I think a good piece of knowledge to have about your slow cooker is what the temperatures are for the high and low settings. Most slow cookers are 350-high and 250-low. This comes in handy when say you want to cook BBQ. Also if you want to cook beans a slow cooker is the way to go.
