What is the best size crawfish pot?

I currently have a 60qt that was handed down to me. I was thinking about 100qt.

a good rule of thumb is that a pot can cook half its quart-age in pounds of crawfish. for example a 60 quart pot can cook 30 lbs. most sacks are between 30-40 pounds so 60 is a little small in my opinion. 100 quarts leaves some extra room which is always a plus. PS the best price on crawfish pots is at Sam's Club.

All depends on how many folks you typically boil for.

I would like to fit a large sac in one pot.

You need an 80 minimum,then, but I'd get a 100 for ease.

One thing to consider...
With a smaller pot you can heat and cool the pot faster. I find 80qt to be the best size for this reason.

While this is true to initially bring it up to boil, if you have a 100 qt you have a higher water to crawfish ratio (assuming you are using the same amt of crawfish that you would in an 80) so the water doesn't cool down as much, allowing you to bring it back up to boil easy.

$100 for 100qt
$170 for 160qt

It takes forever to get my two 80's to boil. I think I need better burners.

Definitely. That is where I got my 100 qt pot. Great size as it will handle any sack of crawfish and will also boil a whole box (about a bushel and a half) of crabs in one shot.

But my point is YOU WANT it to cool down. Thats a very big key in producing juicy crawfish. Stopping the cooking process is an important step.

Jets use a shitload more butane as well.
