Will the 2011 NBA Draft be the weakest since 2000/2001

No sure things like Wall, Griffin, Rose or Durant. There don't seem to be any superstar-caliber guys. The potential No. 1 picks are compared to good but not great players -- Derrick Williams to David West and Sullinger to Love (seemingly the most favorable comparison). Irving and Kanter are still unknown commodities, though Irving looked really good when he did play. Barnes has looked good lately but doesn't seem to have the drive to become elite -- he's been compared to Deng.

If you recall, the best player to come out of the 2000 draft was probably Michael Redd, the 43rd pick. The 2001 draft, though weak, was significantly better, producing Gasol, Joe Johnson, Zach Randolph, Gerald Wallace, Tony Parker and Gilbert Arenas.

Not overwhelming talent at the top but there could certainly be some jewels hidden in the mid-late 1st round and beyond. Won't know for certain for a years obviously but there have been some drafts that have looked like absolute dog shite only to end up being downright solid down the line.

He's not bad at all. Certainly better than Kwame Brown. Roy, Alridge and Rondo also came out of the 2006 Draft, though it wasn't very strong.

Apparently a few GM's have said that if they had the #1 overall pick, they'd take Irving from Duke, no question.

Not sure if the kid is that good or the GM's are that stupid. Irving played like what....less than 10 games in his college career?

Yeah but you could see right away that he is a special player. I'd take him #1 too. It's a shame he injured himself because Duke would have been SCARY with him at PG all year.

You can say that again. They are already the favorites for some to win it all without him.

Thing is, they are saying he is/was cleared to play in the tournament, but if he is potentially going #1 overall next year, he may just sit it out as he can only hurt his stock.

I don't think it will be as weak as that draft. However, the vast majority of fans will have seen the two best prospects (Irving and Kanter) less than three times in their lives, so they won't be able to identify with the stars too much.

I dont think NBA people could care less about how many games he's played in college. They've shown they'd happily pluck a lot of these guys right out of high school if they could

This draft will be chock full of SF/PF tweeners. And these guys are really hard to project pro success.

Potential SF/PF guys that could be in this draft:

Derrick Williams
Terrance Jones
Perry Jones
Marcus Morris
Chris Singleton
Tobias Harris
Kyle Singler
Chandler Parsons
CJ Leslie
John Henson
Jan Vesely

He's more of a true PF than any of these guys. I was listing specifically guys who are right now tweeners.

Nowhere near the same caliber of shooter. Parsons could be like a poor man's white Lamar Odom.

Yeah, he was honored on senior night at UConn because he won't be coming back. Looks like he is a few credits shy of graduating too, so I bet he can get his degree during the lockout.

I wouldn't be so sure about an NBA lockout.

But that's neither here nor there. So what are people saying about his draftstock?
