Dragon Age II Reviews are Underwhelming

Metacritic Score of 85 for PC Version
Metacritic Score of 84 for Xbox 360
Still good, but not nearly what I expected. Apparently, the whole game takes place in pretty much one city, and the environments get pretty repetitive.

How is the refined combat system?

i thought the demo sucked. demon's souls ruined most of these type games for me. can't wait for it's sequel

The reviews I have been reading by players have been dismal.

Now I am pissed. This game is nothing more than a money grab and not a real sequel.
I just watched the gamespot review and it is clear they pushed this out as fast as they could.
You have almost no inventory changes, you have one race that you can play, the combat sounds dumbed down once again probably to save time for the programmers to push it out fast.
I'll hold off until this is cheap to buy it. I could be wrong but almost every change seems like an effort to speed production to get the game out fast.

I actually would like to see more about this game but it only been out for 2 days. Give people time to complete and beat the game.
I am trying to decide weather if I want to buy it for the PS3 or the PC. Obviously P.C is better but I do like the direct interface button smashing of the PS3 controller and I get to chill on my couch, with the PC it would be prettier but then I'd be stuck at the chair.
What to do...Also I heard anyone with an high end Nvidia card seem to be bugged.

The people who reviewed it beat the game.

If you followed this prior to release, you should have been braced for disappointment. EA's influence has become more and more apparent. It was inevitable, but unfortunate nonetheless.

It can't possibly be as repetitive as Fable II or III. those games are fricking maddening. Dragon Age Origins is the shite...wonder what happened.

Still a really good game with a good story.
However, Origins>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>2
Already had 2 game freezes.

All RPG's are repetitive to varying degrees.

Actually, my understanding is that the combat system was dumbed down to make way for easier console controls. So instead of being a PC game that is dumbed down to play on a console, it is a console game that is ported onto a PC.

I've played a few hours of it, and I have to say anyone who complains about the combat system (at least on the PC) is being ridiculous. Combat is infinitely more satisfying, especially as melee. Abilities don't take three seconds to activate and you don't lumber across the battle field to get to an enemy just to have it die to your mage (for the most part).
The mage playstyle, which was far more powerful and insteresting in the first game than the other two classes, is still very much the same. It's just that rogues and warriors are far superior to the previous versions.
That being said, so far the story hasn't really caught me up.

There are a few side stories that make absolutely no sense whatsoever.

So you are underwhelmed with the game as well?
Posted on 3/9/11 at 10:31 am to vilma4prez
no, i havent played it, but ive been hearing mixed reviews about it..so i dont know if i will buy it for 64 bucks, or wait till the price goes down

I got it yesterday and had an animal shelter meeting so I didn't get a chance to play it or even install it. I have been playing Rift right now and will probably still DA2 on my PC Friday. I was going on what I had heard so far from others about the combat system.
I will say this though, I was shocked when the package said PC/Mac on it. I had no idea that this was ported to Mac also and at launch at that.

Installing at this very moment. Didn't play Origins, so my learning curve will be a bit more steep than some of you. Will check back in tomorrow with thoughts.
