LSU Flagship

For all you youngsters (under 40), LSU is the Flagship University. All in Louisiana should be fans. Out of state folks or either those too young do not get it. We can pull for McNeese and Northwestern, too. We may have to attend a smaller school, but LSU is LSU! ULL can change its name to UL, but it will never compete with LSU. No challenge or competition there. Just had to get that straight.

Agreed, except I don't see fans of the Greenies joining the Tigahs bandwagon soon.

I'm OOS and get it. Here's to our beloved Ol' War Skule, may it remain the flagship in Louisiana for eternity.

Is there a point other than saying you are a Tiger fan - so everyone else in the state should be one too?

Point....quit complaining about LSU fans who attended other schools. After the '58 championships it became very difficult to get in LSU. Lots of reasons that people had to attend other schools.

I take it you didn't go to school at LSU.

I don't want the dumb people who can't get into LSU to create a negative image of the school I went to. That is why I don't like when ULL, Southeastern, La Tech, and UNO grads go all out for LSU

Sorry but LSU is still very easy to get into, don't understand what you are talking about. And alums of other schools should support their school.

Um...in 1977 all you had to do was come up with the $119 tuition to get in if you were in-state.

So this is how LSU gets the rep for an arrogant fan base.

LSU is not "easy" to get into. You need a 3.2 and at least a 23 on your ACT and it sure is hell isn't an easy school to get your degree

You prolly didn't even go to LSU. Who are you to tell people who they should pull for?

Compared to most of the country and almost all private schools its simple to get in. Probably part of the reason LSU isn't in the top 125 Universities in the country despite it's efforts to improve their ranking. Gotta keep the riff-raff out.

Whatever, people do the same thing in Ohio; go to smaller schools, but cheer for Ohio St. There are a variety of reasons that people don't go to "flagship" schools that have nothing to do with if they could get in; size, money, location, etc. My dad went to Akron because it was a short commute and my grandfather said he wouldn't pay for him to go to Ohio St. to party until he got kicked out.
That doesn't mean people don't still support their own school, particularly against said "flagship" school. I know plenty of people that went to a directional school in Illinois, but still cheer for the Illini. To each his own.
