sad to say but that's what he is for the next two years. the only way to fix this mess is to extend him. "the move" is just a pre-emptive strike and in two years we'll look back and say we saw it coming. would you move your family to another city if you were staying somewhere 3-5 more years or if you felt you had 1-2 years left??

He was a lock to get an extension regardless.
More likely that he's at ESPN or NFLN, than with another team when his contract is up, imo

Retirement after 2012 imo. Then once kids finish HS, back in the game....

He's not coaching in Dallas. Garrett will do fine. And, why would a Superbowl winning coach want to put up with Jones' meddling?

I think we need a few more Sean Payton threads.

$$$$$$$$ and you just moved your family there and you no longer want to put up with the commute and want to be with your family.

Give me a break. The guy has a daughter about to start high school so NOW is the time to move. People are making WAY TOO MUCH out of this.
I will change my avatar to a pic of Cloris Leachman's Vagina until I get banned if he is gone in 2 years. REAL TALK!

Payton's the one who brought up only having two years left on his deal and not wanting to coach longterm

Its plausible to believe he won't be the Saints coach in 2013

Ultimately, I don't give a shite! Keep Brees and you can plug in any coach. Look at the numbskull Manning wins with...and Brees is better in the clutch and the playoffs than Manning.

Wow, you are an idiot. Brees wouldn't be here without Payton. Part of Brees' success could def run the system we run. He is having more success here than he did in San Diego. Not to mention his talent evaluation is impressive.

I too believe this equates to a lame duck situation for coach, as much as I hate to say it. Heck I live a stones throw from his new house and I'd live there too if I could afford it. It's a beautiful area with a one of a kind private school, exclusive club and golf course.
My take is this is the beginning of the end in N.O. for Sean Payton.
And that's the way he wants it. Jerry Jones will be retiring in a few years. Who better to take over as GM than Payton? Wouldn't surprise me if JJ bought the house for them or at least had some part in it.

Jerry Jones isn't going to retire. He will be just like Al Davis.

First of all let me say that I'm a die hard Saints fan and pissed off like the next guy. But if we're talking New Orleans then yes. Being from Louisiana and visiting New Orleans several times I'd say it isn't exactly Vatican city. Hurricane Katrina or no Hurricane Katrina.

A year after a superbowl victory, you are calling him a lame duck... wow.
