Present or past, doesn't matter. I remember feeling pretty sad when I saw Walter Matthau had passed away(I believe it was during the Oscars).

To you, Walter.

Not exactly an actor, but I was sad to hear of Steve Irwin's death. I know he did a lot of dangerous stuff, but he always seemed somewhat invincible.

As a person who never missed a first-run airing of The West Wing (and as a guilty-pleasure fan of The Rock) I was sad to hear when John Spencer died at the beginning of the 7th season of TWW.

Good character actor that most people didn't know his name.

Not actors, but I was really sad that Mr. Rogers died. And I shed a tear when Harry Carey died.

Most recently, Dennis Hopper.

The lil girl from Poltergiest dying was pretty sad.

Not really an actor but, Sam Kinnison.

He died when I was 4 or 5 but I can recall watching a John Wayne movie around the age of 10 and hearing my father talk about him being dead and feeling horrible this guy was no longer around.
