Then comes to the attack on southern education. He attacks the JUCO system as being inherently unethical, and creating an uneven playing field. then he plays the "we're smarter than you" card by stating that Fairley couldn't get into "good" schools (read: the Big Ten plus Vanderbilt). He's not just attacking oversigning, he's attacking the very concept of Fairley getting a second chance at college admission.

Does anyone honestly believe that Nick Fairley's life would be better if there was no JUCO? This argument is essentially that giving an academically challenged player a conditional shot (hey, f you don't pass JUCO, you're still not getting in college) is worse than an absolute bar. This is elitism at its worst. I'll use the LSU example of Chad Lavalais (though he never went to JUCO), who also initially failed to qualify. He eventually got in to LSU and had an outstanding career, but even more important, earned his college degree. Would his life be improved if we adopted a policy in which Lavalais was absolutely barred from going to college?

a great response to a dishonest argument.

I understand that is gets old for Big Ten teams to keep getting handled by the SEC for the most part. They are just lashing out. Play less shitty football and we will listen.

No, but Aaron Murray's would be.

Using a scumbucket like Fairley as an example is a bad idea.

I think Fairley should be locked up. A true POS in my opinion.

he's not championing fairley's cause, he goes on to call him the dirtiest player in the history of the SEC. just using him as example.

The argument that their athletes are more intelligent than our athletes is bullshite. I am pretty sure the majority of B10 schools use academic waivers as the majority of schools in the FBS do. It's just an excuse to feel better about something.

The whistle blew on a false start and Fairley still pounded Jefferson...I'll mention that to Fairley when we meet in heaven.

They refer to their new divisions as "Leaders" and "Legends." What did you expect?

My editor wouldn't allow me to post my original response to oversigning.com due to the number of f-bombs.

And the fact I called him a racist. Seriously, "a guy like Fairley"? WTF is that supposed to mean?

When you can't beat them on the football field, use other (irrelevent) arguments to make yourself feel better.

My favorite are the Big Ten Apologist like Herby and Desmond Howard, who constantly have to go on ESPN and try to convince the rest of America that Little 10 football is not lame!

No problem. I don't hide it, but I also don't promote the conenction. I like having the outlet to write things which won't get the response of "cliff notes, pelase". But I also like the rough and tumble of the boards here. It's different styles.

But I think there needed to be a rebuttal to this oversigning talk, which is gaining momentum.

Can you post the unedited paragraph(s) here?

I understand why they would bitch about it. But if you can get away with it, then why not do it. Obviously they're more concerned with "principles" than with winning football games.

Moral Victories you can take to the grave, but Winning goes to the bank.

At first, Big-10 commissioner said the SEC won because our players were so dumb, blah, blah, blah...then the over-signing...etc...

Next year when LSU wins another one for the SEC, I am wondering what excuses they're gonna use this time. May be the SEC is better because we have more black players on the roster???
