Pete is the best CBB player ever. Period.

Just guards, off the top of my head: Oscar Robertson, Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, and Pete Maravich.

A forward from Rayville - Elvin Hayes - might also be considered better than CJ.

Although CJ wasn't the best ever, you can't deny the fact that he was a very elite player. Man, I wish LSU just had one athlete on the 2011 team that was his caliber

Pistol Pete.... Frankly, he was so good it is completely legit to say he was in a league all his own. Not even fair to compare anyone else to him.

Chris Jackson was a great College BB player.

Pete was best ever

CJ's college career puts him WAY ahead of Shaq.
Most of you must be trying to hold his muslim flaws and Shaqs success in the NBA against CJ.

CJ prob had a better COLLEGE career as an individual then MJ too.

All I know is that Chris Jackson was much better than Mahmoud Abdul Rauf.

First of all, Shaq, as good as he was in the NBA, was not close to being the college basketball player that CJ was. Shaq's later career and celebrity have given people the mistaken belief that he was the center of the team at LSU. CJ was the straw that stirred the drink, not Shaq.

CJ was the best I ever saw in person, and he was, imo, one of the best to ever play the game. And I don't think anybody that saw him play in college would or could disagree with that. He was unbelievable.

The fact that you put Pistol over CJ is not a revelation. The pistol was not just the best in LSU history, but the greatest college player of all time. Anybody who says different is full of it.

I think there could be a good argument made for Alcinder.

Jackson had some game, but the numbers do not lie!

MARAVICH 44.2 per game (no 3 point line)

Neither do shootoing percentages. How had the better shot? Who was the faster player? Which was rthe better FT shooter? Who did Maravich play against at LSU?

I have to agree with this. I was too young to know about Pete Maravich at LSU, but watched him and listened to Jazz games on the radio. 44.2 ppg for a career, and in today's world 57 ppg.....unreal.

I saw CJ and he was great. But not Pete Maravich great.

But without a quality guard, Alcinder rarely sees the ball. Pistol needed little to no help, to produce

who had the better team around him?

Maravich was literally a one man team....saying CJ was better is just dumb.

So what year was Kentucky's first Black basketball player?

Playing against slow white boys is different.

Any guard could get the ball to Alcinder. He was far and away the countrys most dominant player in college and it wasnt close.

My only knock on Pete (I was a huge fan) was that his teams never did well. Im sure it wasnt his fault.

didn't he play with a bunch of slow white boys? Jus' askin'

by the way...that UK team full of "slow white boys" was the regular season champs 3 out of the 4 years that Maravich was at LSU. The first black player at UK was signed in 1969...Maravichs senior year.
