Uh no. That would be like saying our football team sucked now because of Curly Hallman in 1993 (of course our football team doesn't suck....this is just an example).

The excitement for LSU basketball from the early 70's to about 1993 was palpable. Dale created the entire thing. If, and I emphasize IF, Dale was responsible for a downturn in enthusiasm due to probation, you can't hold that against him almost 20 years and two coaches later. We've been to the final 4 since then so I think we've recovered from Dale.

The problem with the basketball program now belongs to the people that control it now.

actually you are a idiot. What happened over 15 years ago is the reason NO ONE wants to go to the games huh?

Were you even ALIVE when DB was in control of the basketball program? Did you ever attend a game during his tenure?

LSU basketball was a wasteland without Dale Brown. You don't like or agree with certain things about the man? That's fine, you are welcome to your opinion.

But please KNOW the facts. LSU basketball was pretty much nothing before Dale Brown. And has been pretty much nothing since. Coach Brown put that program on the map more than any basketball player in LSU's history and yes that includes Pistol, Petit and Shaq

I'd take a bullet for Dale Brown.

No the fact that the NCAA had a hardon for Dale is why bball has for the most part been sucky since he was coach. Go look at the multitude of other sports programs and thier violations, and then the penalties. LSU was targeted by them, and made to pay because he called thier BS long ago.

While there certainly is some truth to you comment about the basketball probation, I will give Dale a pss becasue he created the modern LSU basketball program. Prior to Dale Brown, LSU consisted of a few bright moments of individual players such as Sparky Wade, Bob Petit and Pete Maravich. LSU, with Dale Brown as coach, challenged Kentucky and was not only copmpetitive but became a true rival until Dale's and LSU's demise.
