Many? Was that Joseph Many or Fred Many? Maybe the red headed Many twins?
Either way I'm sure your source is important.

Then UM is retarded to offer someone, not to mention waste a shite-load of money flying planes around, to just make a 'courtesy' offer.

They don't owe Les anything - there's no point in making a 'courtesy' offer.

Of course. They just love to burn tons of jet fuel riding around for nothing.

Let me get this straight.

They had an offer out.....and extended another offer. For the same position. At the same school.

Sound logical to you? It must. You posted it.

You consistenly are the most ridiculous poster on the Rant and have been for several years. And that's not easy to achieve.

So they would fly their AD down just for a courtesy? I mean that makes perfect sense to me. How's that probation treating you by the way? Kiffin working out? Keep livin' the dream.

I am sure the offer was not just a gesture. Michigan would have done everything possible to get Miles - not only as a benefit to their program but to safe face from rejection.

Bottom line on the OP:

-Meechigan flew a private jet to BR and interviewed Miles (check)

- Offer a contract(courtesy offer or competitive offer) with the possibility that he would or would not accept (check)

-Les rejects the offer and stays with LSU (check)

-Meechigan now is observed as a second class program to LSU, they appear to have lost out on another coach forcing them down the list toward their 3rd or 4th option, and the ONLY positive publicity will be in favor of LSU's status and Les' loyalty (check... oops)

HIGHLY UNLIKELY. They REALLY wanted Miles. He was the perfect fit because of his big name, success at LSU, strong recruiting for rebuilding, "Michigan man" and his classic big 10+2 style.

Sorry that "rumor" doesn't hold water, and tell Many I said what's up!?!?

Absolute crock of shite....the Michigan job was Les' if he had said yes....there is no doubt that the Michigan AD was hoping to have Les on the plane with him when he returned to Ann Arbor.....he did NOT fly down to Baton Rouge to go home without him....

As I stated before...

Michigan could have offered Les a contract, however, it could not have been to the terms of Les's liking. Therefore, Michigan could have then flown down to do a face to face to see if they could talk Les into the contract. Les has a nice contract with LSU, he is a Top 5 paid head coach and he has a nice buyout.
Michigan probably was not going to meet his current salary instead offering incentives that would allow him to reach his salary, stuff like Big 10 championships, Bowl Games, etc. When he has a contract that already stipulates him becoming highest paid coach in America for National Championship games and raises for SEC Championships (I believe).
Then look outside his coaching pay, Les has a few local endorsements here in Baton Rouge that pay him well. Would he have gotten the same thing in Michigan?

Lots of speculation on my part, I do believe Michigan offered him a contract but it was below what Miles currently makes and provided them an out which Miles did not like.
