It's not pitiful.

As a fan of a team in the conference, we get tired of hearing about how the SEC is overrated and that it isn't that much better than the rest of the conferences.

And that is bullshite.

What was the 2nd best conference this year? The Big Ten? Maybe the Pac 10? I've got news for you, the SEC is a lot better than both of those conferences. Sure, maybe teams from those conferences will beat some SEC teams in bowl games. But if you ask them to go through an entire SEC schedule, I doubt the will fair quite as well.

There's a reason the SEC has won 5 straight national championships, and 7 overall. It is the best conference in college football by a good margin, and it has been for the last decade.

Teams root for other teams in their bowl games, even after hating them all season long, for this reason alone. It is better for Alabama if Auburn wins the national championship this year. It only makes the conference seem stronger, which could help a team like Alabama next year if they are fighting for a national title shot.

Arkansas/LSU as rivals are like Penn St/Ohio St as rivals. One is desperate for somebody to be a rival with and the other doesn't give two shits.

every game is a rivalry in the SEC, UM and Ostate hate each other b/c they are always the only decent teams in their conference, same with Oklahoma and Texas. Also one of the main reasons the SEC roots for each other in bowl games is because we know we are the best conference. When a team from the SEC beats the crap out of some school from a lesser conference it further proves what everyone already knows. WE run shite.

I didn't root for Bama. I couldn't. I didnt think I could handle having them as Champs. I just hate them. I'll root for the rest of the SEC in championships in bowl games, but I couldnt pull for Bama

I didn't know who I would be for going into that game. But when it started, I was for Bama. I like Saban.

I guess I'm lame, because I cheer for Michigan every game but 2 each year. I want them to look really good. Of course, there's no other team I would rather absolutely crush each year, but I would rather crush a top 10 team than a non-bowling team.
Thank you! I always want my opponent and rival to be as highly ranked as possible so when my team beats them, you look that much better.

With the exception of Alabama-Auburn...I think the rivalries are not at the level of a UT/OU or UM/OSU simply because there is more than one HUGE game on the schedule.

Why is LSU/Alabama and LSU/Auburn not as big? Because the hate within Auburn/Bama trumps it.

LSU/Arkansas will grow into one of the bigger ones since they don't have in-state rivals.

Tenn/Florida would be bigger if UF wasn't so anti-FSU and anti-Miami. Georgia/UF is also a big one that has a tendency to be overshadowed.

And let's not forget Auburn/UGa (where each school has a more prime-time rival) and Tenn/Bama (where you can say the same).

There's just way too many rivalry-type games where I just say screw it and realize it is SEC football.
