I like Les as a person and seems to be a good guy but overall I have always been o the fence about him. Week to week I hate or love him.

As much as I would love to see what a new coach can do there is also the uncertainty in a new coach. At least with Les we know what we are getting I guess.

Also, considering the class he is putting together for this year and what we have returning I think he does have us poised to make a NC run withing the next 2 years.

All of that said I am still on the fence about him staying.

I'm happy if he is staying, are you on fence of a 10-2 season? Recruiting is great, players respect him and he can get the job done......

This entire Michigan fiasco hasn't changed my opinion of Miles one iota.

Miles is a good coach, but not an elite one.

He is an exceptional recruiter.

He is a below average tactician.

His teams typically commit too many turnovers, too many penalties, and occassionally make awful blunnders (Ole Miss, Tennessee, Arkansas).

LSU under Miles plays down to its competition.

He's won a single SEC title in six years.

I'm really ambivalent about his return.

I'm indifferent about keeping Miles, I'm waiting to see what kind of buyout we are locked into, however, I'm not sure we had a better replacement lined up. The Florida and Miami coaching searches scared me.

I'm ambivalent about him as well...but, my issues with him, like most other fans, is clock management...something he can learn. No way it can continue.

there is a lot to consider:

a national championship
an sec championship
4 11 win seasons out of 6
countless 1st round draft picks
countless all americans
top 5 recruiting classes every single year
28-1 non conference
78% overall
more wins in the SEC in the past 6 years than any other team
5-1 in bowls

I'm perfectly happy to not see him leave. sure last year wasn't spectacular but saban lost to ULM his first year...think the bammers wanted him out then or want him out now? You can't prepare for LM...he does something completely crazy every week and 99% of the time, it works.

to LSU Coach Les Miles!

If he fires Crowton and brings in a good OC I will love the man.

If he keeps Crowton and fails to win the SEC next year and we have another pathetic offense despite some of the best players in the nation then I will be all for Miles leaving.

Stout, good post. The Rant is probably the wrong place for one of those but not sure where else you could put it, .

I have never been on the Miles band wagon. I tried getting on it after the NC but it didn't last. Anyways the opportunity to hold on to the recruiting class and have a possible run in the coming year or two is the only positive I see. I just hope now that he has a new contract and job security for a few years he doesn't lay an egg.

Well, I am not a Miles supporter but am not going to obsess about it. The thing I don't like is his seeming lack of preparadness and seeming lack of situational awareness on the sidelines during the games. As an example, I see plays developing right in front of him (last series of the Auburn game on fourth down)that just did not have the right look to it and I am screaming at my TV, "call a timeout and get it right". He just stands there and watches with no action on his part. shite like that.

Miles is a terrific recruiter. He is a decent coach, but enough of this. It's time for him to actually prove he can bring home hardware again now that the program is 100% his players. Miles has to win the West next year. I don't give a crap what his record is. He goes 4 years in a row without winning a 6 team division then he is not worth 4 mill a year.

I do like Les Miles the man. I have criticized his game management skills, but I think he addressed those concerns after Tennessee; time will tell. Miles is in the same boat as Cholly Mac; he followed a coach that won a national championship and could never quite fill that person's shoes. I had a great deal of respect for Mac; now that Miles has chosen LSU over his alma mater, I respect him more. I also enjoyed the smash mouth football that we used in the Cotton Bowl; it is still supremely effective in this day of the spread.

So you are saying that you believe that he will bring LSU a national championship within the next 2 years but you don't know what to think about his as your head coach? Find something better to do than be a fan. Please!

I know how you feel but what makes it good for me is the keeping the continuity of the program outweighed the uncertainty of change...
