Why do you people think Gruden is a good coach?

He came in to Tampa Bay and won a Super Bowl his first year with Tony Dungy's LOADED team, and then proceeded to run the Buccaneers franchise into the ground and was fired.
No recruiting experience. Failure in the pros. Where is the upside? Being an ESPN analyst only qualifies you as being a jerkoff.

He definitely knows alot about coaching.....but it isn't known whether or not he can recruit or wants to recruit.

He would be very attractive to 18 year old boys recruiting no problem. Offensive mind,firey guy, big name, I think kids would love this guy, I think he would be a better coach in college than the pros. His name alone would spark a program.

To be fair, he left a pretty good team in Oakland that ended up winning some games as well...and doing what Dungy couldn't do is a pretty big accomplishment.

If you're going to play this card then you have to give him credit for the Oakland team that he left loaded that Bill Calahan brought to the superbowl.
He was also on the verge of another superbowl appearance in 2001 with Oakland if not for the infamous tuck rule.

no one really knows what he might do in college, they just drool over the fact that it would be big news and put the spotlight on LSU. We care more about being featured on SportsCenter than we do getting the right guy for the job.

Only 3 losing seasons out of 11 in the NFL with the Raiders and the Buccaneers. His last two seasons he won the NFC South with a 9-7 record and then missed the playoffs the following year with a 9-7 record. That's hardly "running the Buccaneers franchise into the ground", as you put it.
He had a 95-81 career NFL record (.540), won 1 Super Bowl, had a shot at another Super Bowl derailed when Tony Siragusa took a cheap shot at QB Rich Gannon and took him out of the game in the 1st quarter of the AFC Championship game.
Here's a couple of NFL coaches with their career winning percentage:
Steve Spurrier .375
Nick Saban .469
Pete Carroll .500
Bobby Petrino .230
Mike Holmgreen .541
Sean Payton .613
Mike Ditka .560

Malcolm Glazer didn't give him the pink slip for no reason. Take a look at the drop-off from his Super Bowl TB team and through the following years. You can attribute that to the general manager failing to bring in talent, but keep in mind this was the same GM who brought in John Lynch, Derrick Brooks, Ronde Barber, Warren Sapp, etc. Pretty great talent evaluator.
