Why would LSU have a hard time finding a coach?

The recruiting base is great, just lock down the state.
The pay is good compared to other schools and conferences
The top competition in the nation and a chance to play for the conference and national championship each year
great exposure for coaching skills
Great fans, very involved and passionate about the team
decent weather
good area to raise kids
lots of perks
What are the neagtives?

Easy to find a coach. Hard to find the right coach-whatever that means.

They wouldn't...don't let some of these idiots fool you.

Late in the game. If Miles had left before the bowl game we'd have a shot at Al Golden or others who had not yet signed extended contracts.

It would seem a very appealing atmosphere and would make the process easy.
Can't believe there aren't coaches that have looked at LSU and thought..."Boy what I could do with all that talents"....

You're right....The best coaches in America were lining up for this job in 2005

There are coaches that do say that I'm sure, but then they also probably say to themselves..."there is so much parity in the SEC that LSU doesn't have that much of a talent advantage over other SEC football teams."

People are putting too much into coaches signing extensions. We've seen coaches sign extensions and take new jobs immediately afterwards.

its not much out there to choose from that would actually come and the timing sucks. We are LSU and its a top 10 coaching job but we would be in the coaching search to late in the game.If this would have happened a month ago would have been alot better

but wouldn't that be a viewed as a great opportunity to prove how good you are as a coach?

Attracting the coach you want may not be that hard --- the trick is identifying the right coach in the first place.

Are you trying to convince me that we have lowered ourselves to Al Golden?
Miles leaves and good coaches all over will be interested.
Think about this, you dont have to agree, just think.
Pelini
Saban
Mullens
Patterson
Petrino
Fisher
Chucky-MNF is over now!
Butch Davis
Rich Rod-NOt saying I want him
Tommy Bowden
Terry Bowden
USC Offensive COordinator
WHo of these would turn us down without an interview...including Saban???

Genius!

that's kind of my point. There would have to be a lot of interest, enough to get the interviews, and I think the job would sell itself

So you are saying a top 5-10 program, with shite loads of talent that pays some of the highest coaches salaries is an unattractive job?
Posted on 1/9/11 at 9:42 am to H-Town Tiger
No, I'm saying I remember the coaching search after Saban left
Posted on 1/9/11 at 9:44 am to SPEEDY
In my opinion that search was a "win", we have since won a national championship, and conference title and have 4 11 win seasons
not many programs can say that, regardless of how you think about Miles, he has been sucessful.

Look i cant see pelini as the face of lsu football
you guys are smoking crack if you think gruden is coming.
Patterson aint coming
Peterson aint coming
Jimbo Fisher again youre smoking crack
The best hire would be Mullen and im not sure we get him. He distant himself from the florida job

I'll take Al Golden over the majority of your list. Bowdens? That's stooping way below Golden. Sure I'd prefer Mullen or Peterson but the rest are either far-fetched or below Golden.
