If the Cowboys were an underdog, people would still pull against them hard.

Like it or not, if you found yourself loving Boise St. when they beat Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl but you have hated Boise for the past couple seasons, you will soon understand when people in general despise the Saints, especially if they keep having success.

They all hate because we are the champs. Like Mike Mayock constantly blowing the Seahawks today. Pussy arse bitch hating because the best he could do was make practice squad with the Giants. Him and Brian Billick can go frick themselves.

I dismissed the Saints when Reggie did his little princess flip into the endzone and dance in Chicago four years ago. Those were the last points the Saints scored that season, so things even out. It would have been fun to watch them play in Chicago next week with temps at zero.

Yawn. It's hard to rankle a Bears fan. We are poorly coached, our prima donna quartback has shown up only for the second half of the season. Being a Bears and White sox fan as a kid was excellent training for becoming an LSU alum and lifelong fan.

As an outsider, maybe I can answer...though it's pretty much what everyone else said. Last year I cheered for the Saints like it was my Bears winning the Super Bowl, as did just about everyone at the party I was at. This year, that innate desire to hate the champion just kicked into gear. I don't dislike anyone on the team per se, aside from Bush...it's just that you guys are the champs and haters are gonna hate. I was rooting just as hard for the Jets in the night game. It's just how it goes.

Oh, and before anyone else says it...the Bears are terrible and are getting bounced by whoever we meet in round 2, as long as it's not Philly, who we could destroy again.

Your right for the most part. Alabama is a college football state. In general I would say the Mobile area roots for the Saints. However, Alabama and Auburn are the main topics of discussion in terms of favorite teams. Personally, I don't have a strong feeling towards either and have rooted for the Saints as far as I can remember.

To the OP: You should have asked the guy wearing the Manning jersey if he was a Tennessee fan. I'd be willing to bet he was.

Too many ronnie saints fans give the whole fan base a bad name. Sad but true.

I hate the Saints the most of any NFL team. I think it's a combination of the media's obsession with "the Katrina story" and a lot of Saints fans I know who became huge douches because they were used to sucking and then suddenly thought they were the shite after one Super Bowl.

Edit: I actually probably hate the Pats more. Brees is much more likable than Brady.

We non-Saints fans don't hate the Saints, we just hate the media slobbering all over them.

This is pretty much accurate. I've never had any trouble with Saints fans from NOLA, just bandwagon Saints fans that we're popping up last winter.

People hate us because last year we played extra physical borderline dirty defense.

They also hate teams that are consistently good. Growing up in the 70s I hated cowboys steelers raiders .... I hate the patriots now!

It also doesn't help that we were every where, especially Brees, all year long on a lot of annoying commercials. I am more than ready for that custom jersey commercial filmed in the quarter to be taken off the air!
