Trash talk: The LSU Tigers will get caged by Texas A&M in the 2011 Cotton Bowl

I've gotten this crappy "article" at least 12 times. I didn't even think I knew that many Aggies. Some are old friends I haven't spoken to in years. I wonder if they are all just going through their rolodex looking for any LSU fan they might be an acquaintance with in order to send them this gem of journalism.

I don't normally trust articles written by people with two first names. This strengthens that rule.

Jealous greenie weenie fan hating on LSU & giving 5 reasons why LSU will lose to atm, all reasons going back to his penis-envy of LSU. That's it.

yep, staring out an article with "why I hate said team" and then listing reasons why they will lose, tosses out credibility.

I'm not from Louisiana, but I remember trips to New Orleans in the 90's ... there were parts of the French Quarter where men giving each other "wheelbarrow rides" would definitely be something to steer clear of ...

How anyone can be from Louisiana, be a Saints fan and NOT a LSU fan is beyond me! What a idiot!

That's journalism?

I don't care he picked A&M- he's entitled to his opinion. But that has to be one of the most horribly written articles I've ever seen.

Following are the items listed in the article to make a case for Aggies.
quote:

5. Texas A&M has already defeated better competition than LSU

At best this case made by every team that plays in Jan bowls. LSU could make exactly the same statement about TAMU.

quote:

4. The LSU passing attack is a misnomer

One item even the ranters will agree with.

quote:

3. Texas A&M is stout against the run

Which Big8-12 teams actually runs well and how did TAMU perform?

quote:

2. Texas A&M has home state advantage

TAMU knew that they were going nowhere else and its Athletic Department announced about the game before bowls had a chance to finalize match ups. They should have more fans.

quote:

1. In a battle of wits, I choose Mike Sherman over Les Miles

Mike Sherman has no head-to-head record against Les Miles. Mike Sherman has never won the last game in post season (NFL or NCAA). So why should he be favored in this game? Les Miles has won bowl games at OK State and at LSU, whereas Sherman is 0-1 (2-4 in NFL playoffs).

So they beat Oklahoma and Nebraska. Congratulations. those were two very good wins. My favorite part is "at the time they played, they were ranked higher than LSU". That's like bragging about beating Tennessee at the beginning of the season, only to watch them fall apart. Granted, these are good teams, but all in all, A&M played 5 ranked teams (end of season ranking) and went 2-3 against them. LSU was 3-2 against ranked teams. So it isn't a strong win for the Aggies.

The author brags that 4 opponents rushed for more than 2,000 yards. First off, this jackhole doesn't even get his stats right. A&M faced 6 teams with > than 2,000 yards: La Tech, Florida International, OSU, Mizzou, Baylor and Nebraska. A&M lost to 2 of those teams. LSU also played 6 teams with more than 2,000 rushing yards, and beat 5 of them.

too bad this isn't a quiz bowl match. In a battle of wits, most would take Meyer or Saban over Miles too. oh well.

The author is a Tulane fan, what do you expect ?

Nebraska really showed the Big 12 power against Washington.
Texas didn't make a bowl.
Oklahoma beat UConn...oooooooooooo.

A&M hasn't seen a team of SEC caliber this year, his whole premise is BS.

The man is a Tulane fan? I was not sure there was such a thing. If you are dumb enough to chose Tulane over LSU at any point in history, you should not be hired to write about sports. Texas A&M has played better competition. Please. Auburn, Alabama, Miss. St., Florida, North Carolina. If I am not mistaken, there is not a bowl loss amongst those teams.

Dude. That was a friendly annual wager made by groups of LSU and Tulane fans that frequented an Irish Channel neighborhood bar over the annual game. The loser would have to push the winner in a wheelbarrow for a short distance.
#1 It was not anywhere near the French Quarter
#2 It was a very fan-friendly and light-hearted annual event that had NOTHING to do with what connotions you were thinking about.

wow. that article is terrible. we haven't played a team that comes close to matching lsu's speed and athleticism. every time we've seen a little speed in the past...well, i try to keep those memories repressed.

and i think the hatter is as nutty and lucky (and, at times, idiotic) as the next guy, but there's not an AD in the country who would take ol' pear-shaped shermy over les. say what you want about miles, but dude's got cajones grande.
