When people visit from out of state, what would be the first Cajun restaurant that you take them to?

Parrain's on Perkins is pretty good. Solid sunday brunch and the bloody mary there is pretty great.

I'd take them to Parrain's, but let them know we need to go to someone's grandma's house in Acadiana for legit Cajun food

I don't want to drive anyone to Lafayette, though.

Just go to one of the places named by others and have a good time. Ignore the posts that are of no help at all.

They're from out of town. They won't know the difference. Heck, I lived in BR in HS and college, and I wouldn't know the difference.

Opie's was the only Cajun place I would frequent in BR, until the ownership change. I don't need guests to feel like they're hanging out in Kaplan or Erath, but I would like some decent stuff

Certainly the most "authentic" in the BR/NO area.

By the way, I'm not sure where I would go in Acadiana these days. Prejeans is okay but doesn't really "wow" me. I do long for the days of Didees. That duck was pretty damned good.
