Is there a more dysfunctional NFL organization than the 49ers?

Troy Smith nearly got into a fight with Mike Singletary on the sidelines during the game today. LINK
Man, they have fallen on hard times since Eddie DeBartolo was forced to relinquish control of the team.

Singletary is an absolute joke of a coach.

You can thank Edwin Edwards for that

I'll nominate Houston. At worst they are a very very close 2nd.

Yeah. They have never been the same since Eddie Debartlo days.

I can't believe I'd ever see the day where I wish my 2 QBs would yell at my team's HC.
As far as the question, since Jed took the role of President there seems to be a real eagerness for success on the field. The Yorks aren't cheap anymore. The answer to the question depends on who is hired to be the GM and HC. They're going to go all-out to get good candidates.

what makes it so sad is it really did seem like y'all were on the cusp. Especially in such a weak arse division. I was thinking the 9ers would walk into the playoffs and be healthy and rested and ready to make a 2008 arizona like run. I was way off.

Gruden or Harbaugh would be good choices

If anyone watched the game, Shawnte Spencer (#36) got beat deep but the receiver went to ground in the catch. Spencer didn't even bother to touch him down, had the receiver not stepped out getting back up he'd have scored a touchdown.
That was just one of a host of on field mistakes, and then there was Troy Smith and Singletary having a shouting match only for Ginn Jnr to try and clean Troy's face?

Harbaugh is my ideal candidate. Gruden would be good if we could also get Kiffen to coach the D, which won't happen.

We were on the cusp. Alex Smith despite all his faults isn't that bad a QB. We have by FAR the most talent in the division. We were the consensus West pick for a reason. Should have been a 10-6 team.

well, here's to a new leader.

there is still enough talent that a good coach can salvage whats left next year.

No, there isn't. We're about to start our third 'rebuilding' phase in the last 7 yrs. Not easy being an 49er fan right now.

I honestly wish he had punched Singletary. Guys the biggest idiot in football.

The only time we've looked competitive is when Mike Martz was here a couple of years back.

The man who cursed the 49ers

I've always been a big fan of his but I still try to watch him objectively. I really don't think he's a bad QB at all. He's not elite, but I think in a steady offense he could be just fine.
I figure he won't be the starter next year, but to me Singletary's replacement is all I care about now.

The Niners are a competent OC and QB away from being a 10 win team. Ryan Fitz, Jon Kitna, Kevin Kolb prolly all on the market. But instead of making war plans for the offseason we're going to be trying to reconstruct the front office again.
